an early morning photo taken at the far right edge of the state beach. This beach is known for its sea stacks. At the extreme left edge of the beach there are big signs warning not to go any further for that is where many homes that line the beach are.
Located alonf the Pacific Coast Highway and between Leo Carrillo and Point Dume State Beaches, Robert H. Meyer Memorial State Beach is made up of a number of cove or cliff-foot strands known as "pocket beaches" along the west end of the city of Malibu. These three beaches or pocket coves are La Piedra, El Matador and El Pescador state beaches. They have small parking areas and get real crowded in summer hence I usually only go in winter time. El Matador is the most popular of the three because of the sea stacks and the hopeful star sightings along the beach.

Hopefully you were not so close ot the wave and you got all wet from the splash :) Very good landscape shot with the stone rising up from the sea and basking in the golden light. The splash makes it very special and give a great sense of motion and lively energy. Love the reflection on the wet sand too. The vertical format really provide lots of depth. Excellent contrast of shadow and light. The seagal on the top of the rock is like a final touch of decoration on the cake.
Amazing how many wonderful places here in CA that I have not yet seen.

une belle capture, les couleurs sont belles et la luminosité est très agréable. J'aime bien le mouvement de la vague qui est très graphique.

Hi Karen - beautiful light on the rock here, and on its reflection in the sand. And of course the great water splash from the wave; perfect shutter speed to catch this just right. Thanks!

your choice of shutter speed has created some very interesting patterns in the sea spray, whilst the warm light upon the rocks is most attractive.
The sea gulls are an extra bonus.Nicely done.

Magical beach scene for the exploding water fountain, the golden tone sea stack and the reflection, with a couple of birds in observation.
The "No Trespassing" signs are a major irritant to me because they are illegal but the local police and judicial system usually support the Rich home owners.
California State Law permits the public to walk along the beach within the highest high tide mark which is above where they place their signs.
Thanks for sharing,

Nice chilling out on the beach watching the waves crashing over the rocks. This is great capture of sheer raw energy and power of the ocean turns to white wild pounding waves! Brilliant timing creating such a superb contrast against the golden rock and the sea. Awesome details too, Well done shot dull of dynamic, Congrats.

Splendid shot! Amazing optical effect of the water splash, perfect exposure! I also like so bright morning colors. By the way, I am going to California in the late March.
Best wishes from Ural,

This picture says you're quite a clever photographer for having employed your artistic sense, using a long exposure to add exciting drama to the splash.
Unfortunately the birds don't seem amazed at your talent!

Beautiful and photogenic surrounding.
Good timimg the splashing wave makes
the picture extra exciting. Light
management and composition are great.
Vertical position creates an extra
depth. The two Gulls are a nice extra.

I like the effect of the slow speed on the mood. I can almost hear the waves crushing into the rock but the seagulls didn't mind it at all. Good pov and sharp details. Wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.

It is really unbelievable to me. Extra-ordinary composition specially birds on the top of the stone, good colour management and shoot it an exact position.
Well balanced photograph.
