Ranu Kumbolo (7800 feet or 2377 meter ASL) is small tranquil lake located at Bromo and Semeru National Park in East Java, Indonesia. Usually the climbers who want to go to the top of mount Semeru (3676 meter) will rest or establish tent by this lake.

This is a great shot! The lighting and fog create an fine image. The people shown in silhouette add a nice point of interest for the scene. The reflection is great giving the shot depth and balance. The overhanging trees add depth and framing for the shot.

hello Andre,

I just read your response to Asa about an "error" with white balance, I guess this is one of those cases where error turns out to be just the right thing :) I normally don't like branches coming in the frame from above and not connected to a visible tree, but in this case the composition works very well, I think because the fairly thick branches create a sort of veil that is slowly lifting to reveal a peaceful scene. the colour cast, the mirror-perfect reflections, the crystal-clear sharpnes of the image - all that adds to the feeling of serenity. nice work, my compliments.

This shot is pure magic (for me), a scene reminiscent of ancient Asian gravures.
