This little church, believed to be the smallest in England, sits high up on the South Downs in East Sussex. Officially known as The Church of The Good Shepherd it dates from the days of Oliver Cromwell and the English Civil War (1642-1651), and was built from the remains of a larger church that was destroyed by fire in those troubled times. It can seat only 20 people and has no electricity or heating so is only used as a place of worship during the summer months.

Good feelings of the Spring, the green grass and the naked trees show us the summer is coming soon. Attractive colors, clever composition as a result of smart point of view. Well done.
Best wishes from snowy Ural,

The little church, with its terra cotta roof and its buttressed walls, is a delightful subject but you have given it added interest by positioning it behind the rustic fence. It is so much more interesting to approach it via the gate, the shadowed path and the uphill view.
The details are sharp with good accessibility to textures.
Have a lovely Sunday,

un'altra variazione sul tema della campagna ed un altro centro.
Composizione, colori e nitidezza come al solito impeccabili.
Ciao e buona domenica

The post fence helps guide the viewer toward the delightful little church perched on the hill with its sunlit flint walls. I like the warm light and tones, also the foreground shadow play. The fine blue sky completes the whole. Thanks for sharing and have a pleasant Sunday afternoon.

I like the colors and the atmosphere that you get in this picture. Good use of the fence and trees to focus on the church in the center. Very good job. Greetings from Spain.

I like the idea of framing the picturesque little church amongst the foliage and beyond the rustic fence,it sets the scene perfectly.
You have made excellent use of the lovely light to produce a most attractive shot.

another nice shot dear Brian. You got your frame beautifully keeping the fence at FG, which gives nice depth. Light is awesome once again. I enjoyed the tonal quality of it. Class shot. Tfs.

Une très belle photo de cette petite église construite sur la petite colline. Très belles couleurs. J'aime bien cette clôture comme avant-plan. Bien fait.

What a dear little church with an interesting history Brian. Its countryside location gives it a peacefulness that I like very much. I would be tempted to open the wooden gate and take the path up to its door just to check if I can look inside. A super shot. Warm regards Rosemary

I love the perspective; the strong dominant fence in the foreground with the small church on the hill framed by the vegetation. Very attractive.
mkamionka (36258) 2013-12-17 13:11
it is a very cute little church indeed, you have presented it in a great light with blue sky adding so much here. Great use of the gate and fence in the foreground, they also created some nice long shades. There is so much color and everything perfectly balanced, feeling very natural.

Very good frame quality with an interesting perspective on the church
Very good warm coloured ambiance
krzychu30 (15512) 2013-12-19 1:23
the light brings out nicely all beautiful colors of the early spring.
Superb composition-I like especially your idea with the fence in the FG.

The fg yellow post in sunlight and the red earthy path and even redder door and roof of the tiny bg church contrast well against the richly saturated blue sky. Good sharpness and that path adds nice lead in lines & perspective. Smart choice of a vertical frame. Have a nice weekend!

Hi, This church is really small so I believe it is the smallest in England. i have no idea which church is the smallest in Poland. We look at it standing behind the fence. Marvelous composition, the deep saturated colours are great, what a contrast of the branches and the blue sky.
Warm regrads Malgo
