"OK, you wanna score a basket? Go right ahead. Don't let me stop you. Like I could anyway..."
I was watching these guys having some fun one evening. I thought I'd better not ask if they were enjoying their little netball game...
Shot on b/w Ilford film, neg scanned on Nikon film scanner. A touch of toning in P'shop (using Nik Silver FX Pro2) is all the post-processing done here. NB I posted a more heavily "worked" version a few weeks ago, which was not surprisingly taken down. Hope this version meets with the approval of the mods!

That is a big man, Will... Gotta let him have his shot, then know that you can break him down and go around him when you have the ball!
Thanks for the detailed notes on the shot (your foto, not his jumper). I'm surprised to know that the moderators will delete things they judge not to meet the TOS, but I guess it's their site...
Have a great evening!

Perfect timing. Good sharp shot with blurry background. Hard to say anything more meaningful of this one. I mean your title says it all!

I think I must be unique on this site for not having ever had any comments, critiques, notes or pictures removed but perhaps that will change soon. Or perhaps I am just too law-abiding and boring by nature?
I must admit that I don't remember seeing your last posting of this picture but I love this one! What a massive lump of a guy that fella is as he towers above the other chap who is probably himself twice the size of you or me!
No, I certainly wouldn't mess with this "Mr. Big"!

What an original and interesting shot from you! I really like this scene -- it's unique and very well executed with superb sense of the moment. The b&w version fits quite nice here. Bravo!
Have a lovely weekend!

Hi Will, An old shot but what a quality! Fantastic composition, splendid dynamics. Better not to have anything against Mr. Big. Perfect timing.

Who would want to mess with this guy really, impressive. The black and white scan suits the subject perfectly.
I don't see any reason as to why a more worked version of this shot would not meet the TOS here really? it is an interesting observation of a street scene in California.
have a great weekend

That's a man with a long reach, I have to ask, did he make the basket? The other guy looks kind of resigned to the fact that he is not getting between this dude and his score, and who can blame him! I like the blurry background and perfect sharp capture of the players.
All the best

Hi Will. Tall, athletic, a little belly. The Monk is a champion. Truly an original photo. The title is well chosen. Overall a great shot.

nice and well timed a capture .. it's contrasted on many respect and real pleasure for eyes .. kind of well achieved "street photography" .. well done Will

This big fella ain't heavy Will, he's airborne! I'm impressed, terrific take at just the right spot. Looks so natural shot to me, natural light no adjustment, point and shoot with the expression, his sheer determination and the eye say alot more - being the most powerful elements making this shot. A crisp and 'clear', stands proud to the b&w version and your care treatment that really bring the shot to life.
....fair jumps out of the screen at you.
Very well done Will, luv it

This is a very funny photo! I would certainly not be messing with this big guy. A shot taken at the right time when he was aiming for the basket and lifting off the ground slightly. Ilford film was always my favourite :-)

This photo reminds me a scene from the famous "One Flew Over The Cocoo's Nest". Amazing capture of the moment, good quality for a scanned film.
