Just to show that it doesn`t rain all of the time here this is a shot taken a couple of weeks ago between the showers.
This is the field at the bottom of Whiteleigh Hill on the road that leads from Lifton to Chillaton, last year it was cultivated for maize which is why you can see the remaining stubble patterns.

so when it does not rain it is stunning :-) This is a beautiful sun which does not come in plenty in England, but when it does it is very special.
It can make even simple view absolutely gorgeous.
I love how you managed contrast in this picture and how the colors got rich because of this amazing light.
The tree on the left add some interest in the foreground and the road leads naturally an eye up the hill. Also the structure of the field has been shown very well.
Thanks for sharing
Happy Valentine's Day

Hello Leslie ,
The landscape is quite simple , but the picture is splendid . I like especially the warm light , the contrast with the cloudy sky , and the patterns in the maize fields .
We have exactly the same weather in Brittany , too .

How are you coping today - the deluge must be at its worst right now in your parts of England. I love this simple scene with the undulating crop lines and the beautiful light. First class clarity - well done.
Kind Regards, Ann

The light is just great. The remains of the cut maize make a superb set of lead lines and help give the image great depth. Excellent composition making good use of the nicely lit tree trunk as a frame. I hope you are not getting too battered where you are, the weather looks horrendous down in the South-West.

That is such a beautiful shot from the English country side. I like the way the maize stubbles are lit by the lovely warm light breaking through the clouds. Good natural framing with the tree on the left. Very attractive shot, I like it. Thanks for sharing.

la luce è straordinaria e rende magnifico questo paesaggio.
La composizione e la gestione della luce sono ineccepibili al pari della nitidezza.
Ciao e buon fine settimana

It is precisely in these circumstances one often takes the best and most exciting images. When it suddenly clears up after bad weather. Without the beautiful light this scene had not been particularly attractive. Photography is largely to take advantage of opportunities like this. You did it perfectly . TFS and have nice weekend!

Not a spectacular landscape but the light between the showers makes it very pleasant. You used very well the tree on the left as a natural framing for your composition.

The low slanting winter light is lovely Les, it brings out the textures and undulations across the field and highlights the simple beauty of the cultivated land. From the cloudy sky and atmosphere I think that rain is not far away but what an attractive shot the weather has given you. Have a fine and dry weekend. Rosemary

hope you are OK today, we had the worst storm yet smash through here last night. We are experiencing the motive of this shot too now and strangely the light in between downpours is quite special as this shot clearly demonstrates. Winter can be beautiful as well as frightening! Take care.
Enjoy your weekend - B.

There are clouds in the sky but the sun over the fields here. A very attractive picture with a fine pattern from the lines along the field.

This is a beautiful photograph, obviously caught during a brief moment of glorious sunshine in between heavy rainstorms.
And the sunshine is indeed glorious as it cascades across the field of stubble whose parallel lines add wonderfully to the composition. Lovely framing by the tree on the left, a good "lead in" by the roadway and all beneath a dark and threatening sky.
Lovely light and colours, perfect exposure and excellent details and sharpness.

The remaining stubble patterns of the corn, cares for depth and perspective.
A nice nature picture with an excellent sharpness and clarity.
Excellent composition, good presentation.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice Sunday,

Glad that the weather cooperated to allow for such a beautiful shot. You've captured a wonderful graphic nature in this image. The perspective is nicely enhanced by these lines that guide the eye through the picture. The combination of the undulating field and the converging lines of the maize crops create a strong sense of movement while the low-angled lighting makes everything beautifully crisp. Very well done.
holmertz (39427) 2014-02-18 12:36
This is the kind of very bright and crisp light that is usually only seen after a heavy shower, which may have been the case here. The fairly low sun has created great contrasts of the yellow and green lines in the field. The excellent sharpness of course also does a lot to the very distinct features of this photo.
