During my journey in León I had desire of visiting an example of the contemporary architecture of the city, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Castile and León, which have a great interest as its bold design and its elegant integration in the modern zone of the city. I was there in the morning to enjoy a good light, and the shades were very interesting.
This photo is a close-up on its main entry, with which I tried to catch the geometry, the vivid color of the glass front and the reflections of other buildings of the area.

Information from several sources: The Museum of Contemporary Art of Castile and León, also known by its initials MUSAC, is placed in the city of León (Spain). Created with the intention of being a "Museum of the Present" or "Museum of the 21st century", its collection and its exhibitions and activities are fundamentally directed in order to include the current art in its different manifestations.
Opened to the public in the year 2005, it is placed in a building of a one floor only, constructed with walls of white concrete and big glasses of colors on the outside, and is a work of the architects from Madrid Luis Moreno Mansilla and Emilio Tuñón Álvarez (Mansilla and Tuñón Arquitectos), that has deserved a great international recognition with the concession, in the year 2007, of the Prize Mies van der Rohe of Contemporary Architecture of the European Union, besides the participation in contests and exhibitions developed by several centres of recognized world prestige.

In the exterior, the public space acquires a concave form to receive the activities and meetings, gathered by these big glasses of colors, being the place for honoring the city as space of relation between the persons. In its interior, a great surface of spaces constant but different, splashed with courtyards and big skylights, it gives form to an expressive system that speaks to us about the interest that the architecture and the art are sharing.

Durante mi estancia en León tenía ganas de visitar un ejemplo de la arquitectura contemporánea de la ciudad, el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León, que tiene un gran interés por su diseño atrevido y su elegante encaje en la zona moderna de la ciudad. Fui allí por la mañana para disfrutar de una buena luz, y las sombras eran muy interesantes.
Esta foto es un plano cerrado sobre la puerta de entrada principal, con el que intenté captar la geometría, el vívido colorido de los cristales de la fachada y los reflejos de otros edificios de la zona.

En el WS 1 una imagen general del conjunto arquitectónico.

En el WS 2 un aparcamiento de bicis delante de este edificio.

Creado con el propósito de ser un "Museo del Presente" o "Museo del siglo XXI", su colección y sus exposiciones y actividades están fundamentalmente dirigidas a abarcar el arte actual en sus diferentes manifestaciones.
Abierto al público en el año 2005, tiene su sede en un edificio de una sola planta construido con muros de hormigón blanco y grandes vidrios de colores al exterior, obra del estudio de arquitectos madrileños Luis Moreno Mansilla y Emilio Tuñón Álvarez (Mansilla y Tuñón Arquitectos), que ha merecido un gran reconocimiento internacional con la concesión, en el año 2007, del Premio Mies van der Rohe de Arquitectura Contemporánea de la Unión Europea, además de la participación en certámenes y exposiciones desarrolladas por centros de reconocido prestigio mundial.

En el exterior, el espacio público adquiere una forma cóncava para acoger las actividades y encuentros, recogido por esos grandes vidrios de colores, siendo el lugar donde se rinde homenaje a la ciudad como espacio de relación entre las personas. En su interior, una gran superficie de espacios continuos pero distintos, salpicados de patios y grandes lucernarios, da forma a un sistema expresivo que nos habla del interés que comparten la arquitectura y el arte.
