These are Barron Falls near the town of Kuranda in the Atherton Tablelands, 2,500 kilometres north of Sydney.
I dedicate this photo to the force of nature that is my mother in law, Kathleen, aka "The Pocket Rocket". Despite the fact that these falls are over 260 metres in height and my mother-in- law is only 1.52 metres tall, she has a lot in common with them. The least of which is her maiden name Barron. I'll leave the other similarities up to your imagination, but if you've ever met an Irish Mammy, and look closely at the photo, you'll be able to guess the rest. By the way, she would absolutely die of embarrassment if she knew I was writing this :)

Very amazing story about you mother-in-law! :)

Hi Lisa, fine dedication to your mother in low. Only a bit smaller than me:).
I know this falls and even posted a photo of this rock, looking like a head.
Hugs from Sevilla

Hello Lisa ,
Wow ! I'don't know which technic you've used here , but this is really succesful . Not so easy with this kind of large view of a waterfall . Superb contrasts , especially on the rocks the green vegetation and the water in the low part .
A gorgeous wild place .

She sounds a very formidable lady, your mammy-in-law! Great capture of these rushing falls. Love the lush green tones of the vegetation. Excellent rendering of the textural detail. Not long to the weekend now.

What a nice place. Very far away from Sidney. The distances are like in Canada. Very far from one point to the other. Very nice point of view of the falls.
Have a good day

Very nice waterfall photo. I like the arrangement with three falls, two of them ending in small water ponds.
The arrangement in vertical format is very good. A little bit far away from Sydney, but Australia is such a large country.
By the way I told this to one travelling Australian fellow while flying from Adelaide to Singapore. His answer was you are right, very large country but most of it useless (he was talking about useless desert land, but I like desert because also desert may be beautiful).

Une scène de toute beauté et vraiment merveilleuse cette petite chute qui coule entre les rochers. Il me semble entendre le bruit de l'eau qui tombe. Une photo agréable à regarder et j'aime beaucoup la verdure sur les rochers.

This is the end of the world corner, Lisa - I have no other way to describe what i see here.
Impressive sight, breathtaking view down with the waterfalls, and grand earth formation. Intriguing photography place's, and of course, superbly managed this photo.

What a beautiful sight, just like every Irish mammy. Said like a proud son of an Irish mammy :) this is some place, the water seems to fall from an eternal height, and some of doesn't actually appear to come from anywhere at all, intriguing, especially the falls to the centre left. I really like how you composed all the greenery in the scene too, a fantastic natural frame to all ofthis impressive rock. Love the sen of height which makes me feel a little dizzy!
Thanks as always Lisa, have a great Friday

Ciao cara Lisa,

Gidday Miss ADB,
Points alone for taking the effort to embarrass a loved one! :) Oh, I'm sure she'd be proud an honored, certainly nothing wrong with having a little fun, yeah?
This is quite a viewpoint you've obtained, more often than not, it's an upward view when it comes to these scenes. As if mysteriously cascading from within the rock itself, where is the origin of these falls....you have a leaking rock it would appear. :) Love being able to see the small pool between the two, and how it overflows on down to the bottom. A really energetic, and yet peaceful shot. Nature sure has a great way about her. Enjoy the rest of your day. Take it easy.
Cheers from the States,

Very attractive vertical with the textured cliff geology, and the milky white falls flowing within. Another Oz natural wonder to add to my list of future hopeful experiences.

very wisely chosen POV to show the waterfall in all its glory and beauty. The bits of greenery add some life and soften a bit roughness of the rocks. I love the tiny pool half way down and more falls in the left corner - the whole composition truly gains from these elements.
Amazing place and you presented it very lovely with good framing and natural colors.
Thanks for sharing

Hello dear Lisa,
I like very much places like this and always study pictures of them on the internet or in magazines. I'm sure they are extremely difficult to photograph due to the variations in depth, lighting and colours and the movement of the water is a great challenge too. Your picture is wonderful, so rewarding and rich. Thanks to your exceptional technical skills, you managed to capture a wealth of details and tonalities, the atmosphere is intimate and fascinating as I always expect it to be in views like this -a rare treat. I would be thrilled if someone who knew me well used this picture as a metaphor of me:) Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,

Hi dear Lisa
C'est tout simplement une merveille de la nature, impressionnante hauteur de ces rochers, la petite cascade simple et combien attirante, belle couleur de l'eau, très belle réalisation
Have a nice week end

what a stunning landscape. the sheer cliffs and the series of waterfalls. an incredible force of nature indeed. and just as you say, just like an irish mother. this picture really helps put our place on this planet in perspective, your high vantage point is very impressive.
have a good weekend,
ktanska (24926) 2014-05-18 11:02
Of course you took that train too!
It's interesting to compare Malgo's, your and my own shots from here. There was no water on that vertical fall when I was there. And this was also less green just before the wet season. This looks really good although I wonder if those greens are oversaturated.
(Light was totally flat when I was there, so probably I will not upload my version.)
ricardomattos (4592) 2014-05-18 18:40
Impressive these Falls. Lovely image and colors.

But seriously-the waterfall, just like your presentation of it are wonderful!
Beautiful and impressive nature!

spectacular waterfall and captured from a great POV to allow us insight into various cascades. I like also the dark green color of the water in the lake. Beautiful place, nice rain forest feeling with the wet rocks, plenty of green vegetation and a touch of mist.
Lovely dedication too.

Very sweet of you to your mother in law :-)Awesome and imposing rock formation, gorgeous place indeed!
