Photographer's Note
Sometimes it is uncomfortable, tough, desagreable, or even heart-breaking, but we have to face the truth.
There is no better moment than the end of the year, to review all our actions, behaviours and feelings of the past months, and to look deep in the eyes of the future.
May we be enough strong to face our inner truth!
And, to paraphrase the "Serenity Prayer" of which, of whatever confession we are, and even if we do not believe in any God, we will surely need, one day or another, as a reminder, to go on in our life:
Grant me the serenity
To accept
The things I cannot change,
The courage
To change the things I can,
And the wisdom
To know the difference.
I would like to dedicate this picture to the photographers I added as favorites and who are gone from the site or became too rare : Marietom, clio, KLB, Magalik, fayeulle, xavshot, jafadabret, delkoo, calimero76, mdetay, dkeus31, totoamoto, cbrman, limule, delnaja, yosedolo, lespicaros, MarcT, donluicu, ciakgiak, alainh, jimkil, marcdemoulin, avene, cherryripe, devimeuxbe, maximage, photo65Net, brandstaetter, pboehringer...
I miss their contributions very much.
As I see, one more is fight going on, about the TOS, between the moderators and some members, I want to remind to everyone to assess the impact of words, as well as of acts. It is such a waste when talented photographers disappear!
I wish this site will continue to live, with those who participate to it, on both sides,(moderators as photographers) in a spirit of reconciliation, tolerance, fraternity, trust, quest of harmony and sharing.

Hard to believe but this woman is an Indian from India. I do not know if she is a native of Orissa, but that's where she was working, as a seller in a local market. I discovered her very clear eyes with great astonishement. What I liked is that she did not pose. It was as if she was simply allowing me to enter in her reality, to see the bare truth while I was approaching closer.

szlut Marine

Bises

Hi Marine,
A happy 2012 ahead dear. Yeah we need to think and rethink as we are answerable not to anybody but for ourselves for the actions.
Strangely I find her eyes very much similar to yours. Only the eyes nothing else.:) And well that look too. Piercing and ready to burst into anger. LOL.
I really hope you are doing well even with your not so well health. Coming back to pic again I like that closeup. Gives a glimpse into her thoughts as well as yours.
Stay Happy

Bonsoir Marine

Hi my dear Marine
Great impressive shot, quite suitable to present at the end of year. Clearness and sharpness as usual.
Wonderful bold cropping and framework.
Thanks for your support and cheering in this passing 2011 and coming 2012 in advance, and have a good NEW YEAR!
Best regrads,
Takero from cold Tokyo

Marine

Note très philosophique qui me va bien.
Bises et à l'année prochaine!

Hi Marine
Superb close-up portrait illustrating the intensity comes from the eyes. The wisdom of her age shines in her eyes. Fantastic image full of character detail and feeling and
all in the eyes..
Great works
Happy New Year.

Good Morning Marine!
Its true that its difficult to envisage this lady from Koraput in Orissa! Kashmir, yes, but Orissa?...well I scratch my head. But then India is a land of contrasts, a land full of surprises...so at least I shouldn't be surprised!
She looks at you with her intent eyes. her eyes are light & her skin pink! I might have liked a bit of curves/contrast treatment & possibly a touch of sharpness. Just a suggestion from my part...am sure, you know better what you wanted to achieve
Regards
Angshu
