Karystos, a photo from Evia, Central Greece

Photographer's Note

Urban center in the southern Evia . By car from Chalkida (120km) and within an hour from the port of Rafina to Marmari. It is a city with well laid-out streets, squares and public neoclassical buildings. Seafront with traditional coffee spaces an ouzo taverns that predispose the visitor for the beauty that follows.
Karystos as it is today started to be built according to the street plans of the Bavarian engineer Bearbach, after the order of king Othon.
The people of the region are frienfly hard-working they love their villages and honour the customs and traditions of their area.

Hello Vasilis,

Seems like a cumulus cloud is building up in the horizon, very impressive!
A fine coastal landscape is presented, captured with pin sharp details and natural colours...
A well balanced composition with good depth!

Hello Vasilis,
The rocky wasteland you have chosen as a foreground would probably look ugly in a different setting, but surprisingly it makes a perfect balance to the mountain, the white city and the tremendous cloud under the blue sky. I feel a certain urge to explore Evia, one of the least known Greek islands.

This is a shot where the clouds have had a huge effect on the composition. Without them, it would be a good photo. But with them it is spectacular. I love the colours - especially of the stones in the foreground. The depth is good where we can see all the details of the village and mountains even though they are a long way in the distance. Εξαιρετική σύνθεση σε ψυχρά χρώματα. Η πόλη και το λιμάνι της σοβαρής βουνά σχεδόν από βλάστηση. Πραγματικά τέλεια εστίαση. Πολύ καλή ιδέα είναι οι πέτρες σε πρώτο πλάνο.

What a capture! something I have never seen before, the formation of the cloud is so stunning. A triangular shape truly miracle, you are lucky to have cpatured this beauty of nature.. Lovely compo with diagonal touch, lots of interesting detail in good colors and textures. The banks and waterway nicely guide the eyes into the far end. The exposure is so superb, much clarity throughout with good color tones and congrats is excellent against the rich blue sky. The glow and ripple on the water is a rel bonus. I think this one of your best shot to date and I admire your skill. A delightful image, Great effort my friend, Compliments!
