Kakku, a photo from Shan, North

Photographer's Note

Somehow, this is my first post of an incredible place I've visited in Myanmar: Kakku - a complex made of hundreds of stuppas, as the ones in the photo.Unfortunately, the weather was not that good and some minutes later it started raining - it was still the monsoon.
Situated in the mountains, a few kilometres far from Taunggyi, in the Shan State, Kakku was recently open to Tourism and it soon became an important attraction in the region.It's a very ancient religious site, also visited by the Pa-O people, whose villages are situated in the surroundings. This area is under administration of the Special Region 6. It's a Pa-O territory and we needed a Pa-O guide to get there.

So you were in Kakku also?? I must ask about informations. I go to Myanmar in Novemeber, I have already tickets and even the first booking of the hotel in Rangun. We also want to visit Kakku. fantastic shot, and what a sharpness! Superb view.

Hi Ana!
My travel plans are fixed soon.I have two options and I`m waiting for a message from Columbus travel in Yangon.
One option includes Inle lake and then of course I`ll visit Kakku.
It`s a great shot of these stupas.Excellent quality and great contrast with the sky.

aunque un poco tarde, te felicito por estos 6 años compartiendo tu afición y tus fotos con nosotros.
Este conjunto tan numeroso de estupas, que nos ofreces en un encuadre muy bien escogido para que nada nos distraiga, tiene un fuerte grafismo y una geometría impresionante, debido a la repetición de lkos elementos.
Sin dudas es un lugar increíble, que podemos conocer gracias a tu buen trabajo, en el auténtico espíritu de TE.

Excellent framing for the pressentation of this curious, impressive nad beautiful architectur. The architectur arise too very well in the tender blue of the sky. Very graphic composition.

I like how we can see all the details and the constrast with the sky. In Feburary we will go to Myanmar for 2 weeks ans when I see such picture I'm already impatient.

Hello Ana,

I have never seen anything like this before. I still can’t get over your colourful images of the festival. And now you give me this. It seems to me that you have taken only a portion of a wide spread area full of stuppas. They seem to be in great state of preservation. The details involved in the stuppas are well seen and well captured. It is an amazing site. The cloud formation above for me is great. If the sky were simply blue without the clouds, the very fragile balance, which exists in your image, would not have been the same. You have come back with a great image. Thank you Ana.

Ola Ana,
Fabulous turrets collected, with fine contrast to blue sky. They multi similar, but yet placed in a unique arrey - not symetrically.
Magnificent place well presented.

splendid and spectacular architecture,emphasized by your framing only on the top of the stupas. You were lucky to have a blue sky at the moment when you took the picture,this is still more beautiful.I have to look wgere is exactly this place,as I am going to Myanmar,in february.

A magnificent place and awesome pointing 'arrows' Lighting may not be to your liking but you have done the very best here. This view shows the grandeur of these stupas and the available light traces the shapes really well. The colours and composition are excellent and I like the fact that you have used every available space in your frame, a very creative approach. Good clarity, colors and overall contrast. Before this I don't think I've seen any picture from this place...seesm quite amazing with the dense conglomeration of stupas, all delicately created against the blue sky. Yes, as we see not very bright light, but the sombreness of the structures is accentuated by the low light!

Verry intersting this constructions!! I love the effect against the beautiful blue sky. I think i would choose to light a bit up the fg to see better the detail.
