Jerez de la frontera is famous for its wine (jerez, called also sherry) and horses. And the best time to visit it is in May during the Feria de caballos. It is one of the most important celebrations in Jerez de la Frontera, only comparable to Easter religious celebrations. Its origins are in the medieval ages, during one week farmers gathered to sell and buy animals, in Jerez mainly horses, usually drinking sherry to celebrate the deals. Nowadays it is celebrated in Parque González Hontoria. The Feria is divided in two parts: one is a kind of small village, with streets that have bars and restaurants at both sides (these restaurants are called Casetas). All the casetas are public, so anyone can just walk into any one and enjoy the food, drinks, and dancing.
Well, for me the wine is not interesting. The horses are fine, but I liked most the view of the beautiful Spanish ladies in their colourful dresses and the relaxed atmosphere.
But the main attraction in Jerez was the meeting with our friend Angel. We were to meet in the center of the town, but Angel made a great surprise for me, finding me during my breakfast in the hostel. Strange that he recognized me there. And then we went on his motobike to the city. Can you imagine? For me, it was an adventure, I was very afraid to go on moto. I found the Feria in the park a bit boring but I liked the carts on the streets of Jerez, like here on the photo.
Thank you Angel for the wonderful day with you and Toni. You were marvelous hosts.
I have forgotten. May is the time of jacarandas. They are everywhere in Jerez. The strets are lined with them.

jak zobaczylem skad to jest - pomyslalem - ciekawe czy spotkala Angela. No i nie pomylilem sie. Gratuluje kolejnego mityngu TE! A widok bardzo ladny. Bryczki sa i u nas ale ta troche inna w konstrukcji i kolorystyce. Fajne kontrasty i kolory.

A very attractive scene, with these fine, grey horses pulling a vivid, red coach. I could just see myself enjoying this slow, relaxing type of scenic ride!
You have placed the carriage perfectly in frame, with space to move into.
The sun was obviously very strong at the time but you have coped with it very well.
Have a great day,

The red wheels make this attractive picture more picturesque. Very nice vie, good contribution to the TE-meetings. I'd like to visit Andalucia too ;)

I am a fan of sherry, but it has to be very dry; unfortunately you cannot get it here in France for love nor money. A very pretty composition featuring this colourful carriage and pair. Lovely colours all round and excellent clarity.

a traditional and beautiful capture this, plus of course the glorious blue skies so typical of a Spanish spring. Wet and cold here on the southern English coast, so this cheered me up.
Shame you missed out on a visit to Colomares. My posting today was taken 4 years ago. My more recent visits have been a little disappointing as the gardens have not been so lovingly cared for as in 2010. B.

A very colourful picture, the red parts of the wagon are indeed very eye-catching. A very attractive and pleasant view with a human presence.
