Why would Arctic Tern (Sterna paradisaea) be entitled to be the TrekEarth bird?
Quotes from Wikipedia:
"The Arctic Tern is famous for its migration; it flies from its Arctic breeding grounds to the Antarctic and back again each year.
This 19,000 km journey each way ensures that this bird sees two summers per year and more daylight than any other creature on the planet.
The average Arctic Tern in its life will travel a distance equal to going to the moon and back."
Title Voyager refers to two satellites that have gone further than any other objects from our planet.
Happy 10th anniversary TrekEarth!

A superb capture of this fast flyer! The picture is well cropped. The red beak is a natural eye-catcher.

heheheh how appropriate that you choose this little gypsy bird for the mascot of TE. What a great way to celebrate our TE's 10 years. And just like the little bird, it has great staying power and can travel all around the globe non-stop.
Cheers, have a good Saturday

The bird is well placed in the frame. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the Artic Tern. The good luminosity is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

Here is a very appropriate and original photo to celebrate TE 10th anniversary ! This wonderful site makes us travel incredibly far every year too, back and forth each day, to the other side of the world !
I liked your note because I didn't know about this species of tern. What a bird, the one that travels the furthest of all migrating birds !
And what a capture : Such a close, sharp crop in flight ! The effect is amazing on the blurred sky behind !
Thanks for sharing this great picture on this special event.

You caught a fine portrait of this "long-distance carrier" flying under radar for a better display of its elegant "design"!
Speaking of radar, I presume they're equipped of inner compass for keeping on track year after year!

Well taken, nice attitude with the head and the wings, good light, maybe not enough sharpness.

Very nice catch, this bird are not easy to catch in flight, I tried and failed. You did it very nicely with good close up and details of the bird, you can see nice little expression. Beautiful and good to see some wildlife shot here on TE.
