Photographer's Note
A view through the garden wall of the ruined house at Nymans Gardens, in West Sussex, England. The spring colours of the woodlands beyond the estate can be seen through the far arch which once served as the side entrance to the original property.

Hello Brian,
bon point de vue sur ces deux arches, premier plan sombre qui débouche sur un ciel lumineux, c'est bien vu.

Hello Brian - I love this composition, it is quiet and restrained but evocative and mysterious too. There is something of a surreal feel to the shot - reality but unreality, a pregnant pause perhaps? The way my eye moves forward and backward through the arch is brilliant. Top class management and a special shot! Warm regards rosemary

Très bon cadrage utilisant cette arche naturelle mais je suis surtout admiratif sur ta façon de maitriser les fortes différences de luminosité entre premier et arrière plan. Un superbe travail de photographe.

Hi Brian
Nice use of the fg arch to frame the bg arch which nicely frames a patch of yellow foliage. Good sharpness & well composed. Wonderful textural, tonal, & shadow details on the fg wall. Tfs!

Hello Brian,
We've been away for a few days, so just catching up with critiquing.
This is a bit different from your usual pictures but I love it. The use of the archway as a frame is lovely and you have managed the very difficult lighting conditions perfectly - I can see lots of detail in both the darkest shadows and in the very brightest parts too. I'm not sure if you ever use HDR or not but this, I reckon, might be a perfect situation for it because of the strong contrasts.
As I say, the lighting is gorgeous and well managed, the colours are vibrant and the detail and sharpness exquisite. Excellent composition too.
Lovely!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Brian,
very good use of the archway in this nice composition. Good depth and handling of the light but colors are perhaps a little bit oversaturated for my taste. I like the overall impression of this picture from an old garden wall, well done!
Have a nice evening.
Boa
