This shot has been taken in the amazing gardens of the Alcazar of the Christian Kings in Cordoba. Outside the main castle walls the gardens occupy 55.000 square metres. There is a wide variety of plants, palm trees, cypresses, orange and lemon, trees to be seen which overlook stone fountains and large ponds. Originally the water was brought in by an aqueduct from the Sierra Morena and the great Albolafia waterwheel in the River Guadalquivir nearby helped with the supply. The large ponds were added in the 19th century. Source: andalucia.com

A fascinating shot, dear Gosia. The saturation of green makes the light/white of the statue stand out like a ghost. An appearance...

janneman (2860) 2014-05-10 6:55
It's the two different types of texture that make this composition!
Nicou (142130) 2014-05-10 8:10

This is beautiful, as mentioned he stands there like an apparition! He glows with some sort of otherworldly light, it is really a beautiful result. Everything is glowing beautifully, and you chose a perfect thirds composition too. Fantastic shot.

Ciao, buona notte e ebuona domenica

Ottima scelta e ottimo risultato.

This photo could have been called "find the intruder !" Great capture thanks to a clever tight framing that makes its effect.Great DOF and sharpness.
Good job !
jjcordier (79297) 2014-05-10 22:35

I do enjoy your composition with the statue perfectly placed between the perfectly manicured green trees ,the colour combination and textures are particularly attractive.
Kind regards Les.

Excellent statue close-up photo with very nice colors, perfect light, very good clarity. Beautiful green BG. The well-chosen tight crop eliminates all unwanted distractions.
Very well done.

An excellent composition, with this close-up of the statue of King Ferdinand, a beautiful effect lights and textures you've captured both the cypresses of the fund, and sculpture.

All the best.

nie tracilas czasu w Hiszpanii, wprawnym okiem wylapywalas takie smaczki i detale rejestrujac je aparatem. Tutaj kontrast kolorystyczny przyciaga uwage juz w miniaturze a to zasluga kadrowania a raczej kompozycji. Dobra robota.
photoray (13981) 2014-05-11 14:17
The neatly trimed shrubs and the dense green really make the ancient Alcazar King stand out.
Would love to stroll the garden grounds someday.
jcpix (13930) 2014-05-11 16:38
This exemplifies simplicity and minimalism at its best. I would assume not too many people would have envisioned this composition, it's brilliant. The shades of light, color and contrast are superb...not to mention a lot of texture for an added bonus effect. I think Klaudio expressed it perfectly, the statue is almost ghostly in appearance surrounded by the greenery. Bravo...a wonderful shot! Enjoy the new week. All the best.
ecmel (1367) 2014-05-12 3:15
Creative idea. I especially love this minimalist composition.
holmertz (52744) 2014-05-12 9:06
I completely forgot to praise this brilliant composition. It is a deceptively simple photo but so cleverly done. From this angle the old statue looks totaly embedded in the soft green environment. I love the faded grey and white tones of the sculpture and its rough texture. The light is superbly handled and the fine tones of greem are beautiful.
PiotrF (17522) 2014-05-12 11:32
Piekny kadr zaprezentowalas. Figura niczym na pluszowym dywanie. Piekna, naturalna kolorystyka i układajace sie cienie to dodatkowy atut tej prezentacji.
Bardzo dobra praca.
divail (8334) 2014-05-12 19:05

Fantastic composition and colours
rigoletto (34279) 2014-05-13 13:52
looking at the thumbnail, i really could not imagine what those glowing greens could be, some sticks of uranium maybe? :) well, here is the combo and excellent use of light again, to deliver the shape and volume of these bushes. the marble statue looks a little bit spooky, but that must already be the reason of its standing there.

Krol w zielonej krainie...
Ladny kadr i kolory.
Zdjecie robi wrazenie.

Possibly I would have seen this statue without realizing that it can provide such a beautiful picture ...
You have observed this scenery very well.
Splendid green pin sharp background.
Best regards, Paul

What a wonderful picture Gosia! I really love your very poetic universe... This shot is absolutely perfect. Bravo!
ourania (45462) 2014-05-31 9:28
the impact this simple composition has is amazing. I like very much the point of view that makes the stone king seem like emerging slowly from the smooth and compact green wall. Superb rendering of textures and very fine framing. The way you managed and exalted the graduating green tones is fantastic and your picture looks like an illustration of a legend. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,
patpatch (1601) 2014-06-06 9:17
That's a very strange shot.Very curious and original composition.I like this king hided in the green waves. There is something mysterious in ths picture.
The sharpness is very impressive too.
Sure,you're an artist.

I missed so many of your photos while I was away, great to see them now and get to them one at a time.
this place somewhat reminds me of the gardens in Florence, the one where you shot that large 'face'.
I'll post that one later as well :)
such a smart choice of placement, right in that 1/3 type of area. and the green has a glowing type of effect to it.
whats not to like!
job well done

petarl (1313) 2014-07-10 22:52
I believe this is a very original capture of something so often seen as a statue. When someone mentions a statue to me, I immediately start yawning and fall asleep. I mean, statue is something that's great already from the first place as it was designed to be great. And statues are boring; they are everywhere and school teacher chase children to memorise years from history by heart. But how do we make something new out of something so boring? I think it's because we find new view, new angle, new standpoint and new light, something that can make old boring statue live again. I think you did good work to bring this king (that kings thing bores me to death) alive, appearing almost like a wraith between lighting green gates of the underworld :) Photo has a nice depth and appears almost like a 3D rendering. King gets to the scene unnoticed as if he’s levitating on a cloud. Regards, Petar.
NorthernLight (2383) 2014-07-23 8:43
an image with no unnecessary frills. Very well seen and expertly composed.
Friendly greetings from northern Europe
worldcitizen (8654) 2014-08-07 11:52
This is perfect simplicity. The color and sharpness are excellent, and we can see all of the details on this king. He seems very real. I like the lighting, and the waves in the greenery behind the statue. Very nice! :-)
