When an exotic maple tree drops it's leaves do they fall off from the inside out? It appears that way from this photo. I will be returning to this field this week to find out for myself.
A little diversion on the Grouse Mountian series I thought it interesting to share this photo in my Fall Series. In the field of exotic maples the colors are constantly in transition. Other than blue I have seen all the colors of the rainbow in this field.
A crop off the bottom and converted into a perfect square shape for this frame helps feature the long row of leaves in multiple colors. I keep finding many photo ops in this field. Enjoy!

Terrific colors, isn't it? What a beautiful path to walk in! You are becoming an expert of those long rows of maples with their rich colors. You also have the twist with your PP so that even with the posting in the Web, the colors stay vivid. I like the way the lower branches are bare. It gives another pattern to the picture.
This picture is so you! Seeing the thumbnail, I was sure it was from Paul Enns!

Very interesting picture. I don't know why but I find it quite overwhelming. It is hard to focus on any particular area of the picture except for square at the middle. Still, I like it.

Delighful and precious addition to your autumn foliage series.
That tiny 'light at the end of a tunel' (if you insist on talking politics (:-))) - what a charm it is.
Big picture. Strong picture. Well balanced picture.
Not so easy to befall such giant.
All the best, Paul.
Keep that BC beautifull.

oh if someone would ask me what type of the autumn photo i'd like to see i'd answer" exactly this one!
paul, this is "the killer", great work;
nothing to add,
Davidh34 (838) 2006-10-26 3:57
Difficult to add to these comments. A fantastic autumn shot, the square format works perectly, and it's a good spot, the leaves falling in some kind of order. TFS

Interesting apology of symmetry in art. Perfect photo indeed. Regards.
KellEy (1237) 2006-10-26 4:24
This is superb! The colours and interest are so fabulous.
I think another variation would be to have a model at "the end of the tunnel".

Hello Paul, a good illustration of the perspective with all the lines converging to the light point out of the alley.
Nice fall colors
Cormac (26545) 2006-10-26 10:59
I never noticed that they fall off from the inside out, but it's an interesting question. Great use of the telephoto to give some compression and make the trees seem so close together. I really like the colour too. Excellent!

prezntime (3946) 2006-10-27 20:26
This is an extremely cool pciture, it does appear that they are falling off inside out. Again you've captured these startling colors very well. I might've gone with a narrow vertical framing, but that's just another POV. As a note on your response to Polonaise, I heard that fall colors really do well in cloudy or overcast light. The colors are just now starting to get strong around here, so I might go out this weekend to take some shots.
Thanks for the photo,

Hi Paul. This is a deservedly popular image. Absolutely marvellous subject, and lovely exposure to create that little square of light at the end of the 'tunnel'. The many vertical lines and the brilliant canopy of autumn red make this very appealing. I like the squarish format, but not the frame all that much. Hardly important.
cherubin (1971) 2006-10-29 10:22
excellent automnal view... perfect colours
rosaline (0) 2006-10-31 5:05
Stunning shot and one with beautiful colours and amazing symmetry. I like the capture of the colourful leaves down the center of the composition. London is still green at the moment. We are still waiting for the leaves to turn. Nice shot.
hoorge (1434) 2006-11-04 23:15
Great foliage capture. Wonderful framing with the trees and a good "follow the eye" concept used. Excellent sharpnes, pov, and vibrant colors.

Hi Paul, very beautiful photo,i like the autumn colors and the depth. The thing that i prefer is that line of red leaves to the center of the photo...it's as if the end of the tunnel determined the end in the autumn and surrendered the place to a new season...very original! Thanks for sharing, compliments!
