Over the Easter weeked I visited Cape Schanck light house which commenced operation in 1859. It is surrounded by a national park, with low coastal scrub.

Très beau point de vue sur ce phare. Le vert est superbe et encadre bien le blanc et rouge.
Le ciel dramatise la scène.

A striking photo with the diagonal line well placed. All the texture in the green scrub and heavily clouded sky provide a good frame for the red and white lighthouse. Tfs, Marlene

I like simple composition as is yours. Wonderful colours and textures, great light management.

Great POV with a good bit of attention paid to the balance of the colours and tone of the shot
It looks so like the light house i shot at cape wrath at the extreme north west of Scotland

A simple composition in a way, but very striking. The green hillside against the cloudy sky and the white lighthouse with its red roof make a great combination of colors. There is also a fine balance between the vertical lines of the lighthouse and the diagonal formed by the hillside.

A great view point in this one with the light house poking above the ridge line. Great colour.

Hello Steve, I noticed this is your 400th congratulation. There's something about light houses, not sure what it is, maybe their remoteness, usually cold windswept locations, or maybe it's what they stand for, nor sure, although they are very similar they are always very interesting, especially to photographers. Nice natural colours & diagonal lines with the lighthouse well placed in the frame.

Congratulations on 400 shots, bloody hell the way I'm going it will take me another twenty years to get to 400.
I agree with Santo, yes there is something about Lighthouses, they do make for dramatic images.
This shot is a cracker, perfect POV and composition. I love the way the lighthouse is just poking its nose above the surrounding greenery.
Excellent technicals, sharps, exposure and colour reproduction.
Congrats again on 400 posts.

full of mistery presentation of this pretty lighthouse because it is hidden behind the hill. We may only speculate what is there behind :) Very attractive diagonal foreground makes an excellent introduction to the lighthouse.
Very well done,

Hi Steve, I've been falling down on the job and been a bit slack with my critiques lately. So I apologise for missing this milestone. Congratulations on your 400th photo, how appropriate that it is from your home state of Victoria. The vertical framing suits well the subject and having photographed this lighthouse myself, I can appreciate how well you have shot it. The textures of the plants in the FG are beautiful and something that gives me happy memories of my time there. The sky is dramatic (typical Vic weather ;) and the colours of the lighthouse beautifully rendered. TFS and I wish you a happy long weekend, Lisa

Ah, back to Cape Schanck! To take this simple but very juciciously composed/cropped shot, with the lighthouse superbly positioned. Actually, it's the striated effect of the grasses on the slope below it that really make this one stand out, plus the excellent sharpness.
Congratulations on the 400, even Bradman couldn't do that.
See you tomorrow; let's hope the weather is OK - sunshine through the clouds would be good.
