This will be the last picture I post this year. The end of the year is often a time for reflection and contemplation. The numbers in the bow of this ship and its reflection can be a metaphor for just that, an image of reflection on the year that is now almost history.
I wish you all a Happy New Year!

hello erling. this is a cool graphical shot of the ship and you have a nice allegory of the countdown for 2014! let's hope the new year will be a better one for all of us.

This is a very nice composition, like an abstract painting. Any modernist painter of the 1950' or 60's would have been proud of this. There is a great contrast of the mainly red and blue parts, and the white figures and the rusty lines add fine details.

You took these picture with nice reflection.
Indeed we are end of 2013, I hope that 2014 is better than 2013, the age become everyday heavier and heavier, the health is not best.
You play nice with light and colours
Lovely composition, nice presentation too.
Very well done, TFS.
Wish you all a very fine, healthy and prosperous 2014,

hej erling ~
this is a wonderful abstract you have created out of this boat detail. the colors and brushstrokes really do give the impression of a canvas. until i looked closely and read your note, i was slow to realize it was actually a ship in addition to being a very clever metaphor for the countdown to the new year :)

En mycket vacker färgkombination i denna bild som verkligen ser ut som en modernistisk och non-figurativ tavla. Det finns ju en klar symbolik här också, man hoppas att båten håller sig flytande ett år till.
Gott Nytt År

Well done, you're right, I never understood why so many people enjoyed the new year's arrival... To my mind, anticipating the future is a non-sense if you forget the past, and the lessons you learnt from it. So I hope 2013 was not too bad for you, and I wish you a happy new year !
Have a nice evening,

pure imagination and it´s for me like a dive into kind of imagination word or into our dreams.Magnificent and really brilliant considered! The way you framed it,but also the combination of so vivid and strong contrasting colors make the image spectacular!
Wish You a Happy New Year!

Wonderful abstract composition, good observation over there. A photo with lots of symbolism as visualized and shared by yourself. The question that comes to mind is that as a human race are we sinking or are we rising? Let the future answer that. Thanks for sharing.
Wish you a wonderful New Year as well!

en kreativ bild där man knappt vet vad som är upp eller ner, och som dessutom saknar betydning i det här fallet. Jag gillar de mjuka linjerna i vattnet och de härliga färgerna, fin bild!
Gott Nytt År till dig och din familj!

Hello Erling - What a great choice of shot to mark the countdown to 2014! I love the abstract look here with the arrangement of colours and shapes punctuated by the row of numbers. Excellent and original. My warmest wishes for a splendid 2014! Rosemary

at first it was the Title of this photo that really captured my attention...i couldn't figure out what was going on :)
then when I realised the #'s on the hull of the ship it all came clear to me!
these large ships always make for fun photography.
I enjoy the large variance of color hues even though its basically just 2 colors! really neat how it changes from top to bottom.
Well, I hope you have a good year as well...maybe we'll see you in Bergen, mayby not? Time will tell

What a fitting and meditative photo to post to round out the year.
There is something so sonorous in the rich colours and fine detail. That slight movement on the surface of the water makes this perfect.
Please enjoy a very good year ahead, Erling.
