Happy Christmas Everyone!
Another old photo from 2005. This is one of Berati's old quarters located on the other side of the River Osumi opposite the Castle hill.On this photo you can see a big portion of this quarter and its church in the centre. This is part of UNESCO's protected sites in Berat. What is facinating about a place like this is that it always looks the same. Nothing has changed here for hundreds of years.
I am aware of the tilt in the photo. Unfortunately it was too late when I noticed it.I have posted another in a ws correcting the tilt.

I've seen more pictures of this wonderful part of Berat but this is the first winter view.
It's great in b&w with the alternation of the dark windows with the white facades and snowy roofs. Also the background looks very good with the many dark trees all over the snowy hill.

This is one of the best Christmas postcard, how is nice the old Berat under the snow! It seems to see a real crib! I wish you all the best and thanks to show us this beauty! Luciano

Hi Agjika, interesting pattern shot of the buildings.
However the camera was tilted to the right considerably.
There is an easy fix in Photoshop for this.

I see seldom pictures from Albania, well I think this one is a great contribution. It really looks so cold, a gloomy Christmas it is, hope that the people in there find warmth in their families and friends. Wishing you a Merry Christmas too!

Are these houses properly heated in winter? Otherwise I can imagine they get quite cold on a day like this. Berat would look great in any season, also when snow covers the ground and the roofs. It's a rare pearl of a city and you have captured its qualities very well.
I wish you and your family a continued nice Christmas.

Even if it is in the south, away from the Gheg folk, I must go and see this wonder of wonders.I love the architecture and of course here the snow accentuates the geometry. Best wishes for 2012 Aleks. One people, one blood.

We don't get to see too many photos from Albania on TE, so these are a pleasant surprise.
what i like about this one are the repetitive patterns than seem to continue on and on.
its like a photocopy that continues on horizontally :)
Enjoy your day

What a wonderful photo! As soon as I saw Berati I thought that it must look wonderful in winter (I'm planning a winter visit in a few years' time). You are so lucky you go to Albania so often and you are able to take photos in different times of the year.
