A bird's eye view of Terazije Square in Belgrade and its famous drinking-fountain from 1860.
I took this picture from my room at the classic art nouveau-style Hotel Moskva (Moscow), opened in 1908. This is a beautiful hotel, full of character, and at at price-level far above my usual budget. However, as it was the last night of my journey on the Balkans, I allowed myself a real splurge.
In a workshop is a picture of the hotel. My room was behind the three windows on the top floor on the nearest corner, just below the little cupola. I enjoyed a splendid view of most of central Belgrade from there.

Beautifully captured, making the most of the patterns and colours. Quite liked the composition and the colour tone contrasts between the fountain and stonework.

This is an interesting and well captured bird's eye view. The radial lines of the pavement and also the small tiles give a nice graphical impression. Also the fountain itself looks beautiful. Beautiful light and colours too. TFS!

Not a bad view from your hotel window. A really fine composition where you make very good use of the pattern in the tiling and people walking in different direction. Wonderful lighting and colours. TFS and have a nice weekend!

Hi, Gert -
Nice composition, almost perfect arrangement of the people (you cut off the guy in the lower right). The eye flows through the image well.
PS: One should always allow for a splurge now and then. We are worth it!

This is really splendid photo. Superb POV and amazing diagonal lines.

An interesting capture from this acute perspective. I hope you had a little more light but still the result is excellent with the subdued shadows. Love that radial lines around the fountain. Have a good weekend, Alex

This image delivers a different perspective on peoples' movements from above, different and attractive
have a nice day JY

Hello my dear Gert
What is another wonderful shot!
Good and bold framework/composition/angle and sharp focusing in the detail are excellent as usual! The color coordination/balance/allocation is also quite effective. Congratulation on your masterpiece!
Thanks for sharing and best regards,
Have a nice Saturday !

A very good view here and an irresistible motive. The inclusion of all people give a good conception of the size of this fountain and they also add some nice colours. What was the room price here?

Nice shot. I love the composition and this blue spot made by the fountain, around which the whole square seems to be revolving, well done.

I sometimes wonder what it would be like to see the world as awe have it from a distance into the sky, and I play the scene over and over in my mind "Its utterly stupid what this creature called 'man' is carrying out on this planet", and then I cannot take any thing seriously when I feel that whatever us humans are busy in does not count in the grandest scheme of things.
This shot reminisces to me. Thanks for sharing

Great capture, fantastic POV. It looks like it is spinning or about to!

I like a lot the top point of view and this photo evidences well why. It allows to exploit the graphism of the pavement and to show differently the thing we are used to see from the ground.
Here the fountain appears like a star.
Clementi (52514) 2009-11-08 14:02
the fountain is very beautiful, but this pov has allowed you to also capture the splendid geometries of the square , the people I like seen by the high.

Hi Gunnar. Unusual angle shown extraordinary photos. The view from above is a good idea for this beautiful fountain. The geometric structures contribute outstanding. But the second most important is the life around the fountain. Very nice. Regards, Wolfgang.

I like the blue color given by the water un the center of the picture, and the graphism all around given by the lines of the pavement, with the small people walking here and there! The blue gives a real glare, enhanced by a beautiful light!

Ooohh I love this photo!! Great POV... great capture Gert!

I don't understand why my reaction is so late for this picture? I saw it many times and I am so happy to see this original point of view. Many shots I made here, but not from your position. This is the real discover, friend. This is the only way to see the rythme of graphism on the ground. Many thanks for this sharing. Warm regards!
archimatica (20466) 2009-11-11 12:31
I like the composition and the high pov.
Angshu (56740) 2009-11-13 5:14
The patterns on the ground, the blue of the fountain water standing out and the arrangement of the people at that spur of the moment makes this a delightful shot. The hotel has a rich architectural design...thanks for sharing the view in the WS. A fine shot indeed!
mafegan (8624) 2009-11-21 16:07
Interesting to see the centre of Belgrade from above. The geometric pattern is effective but I keep on looking at the 2 girls in pink and the high chair? Tfs, Marlene

We don't see too many of these birds eye view photos very often on TE.
This is a great example of why we should see more.
The ground is very detailed, even seeing the black speckles.
the addition of the people provide a sense of size perspective.
have a great weekend

Amazing POV, wonderful long perspective, nice colors. Original image.
abmdsudi (48830) 2014-01-26 22:21
Good picture is asking for a photograph and you spotted this well in time, what lovely balanced compo and frameful possibly from the best viewpoint where the eye popping water fountain and the graphical lines glue the focus in. Great observation on your part, excellent low evening light, soft long shadows and a scene highly invigorated by people's presence - being vital element for this type of shot, leaving us to guess the height this was shot! Great capture and tfs
ourania (39016) 2015-02-21 8:04
this picture is fun to observe as it has a playful perspective and fine graphic patterns that seem to evoke motion. I like to look at the people and the way they relate to the patterns or the other passers-by you captured in your frame. The monument and the fountain have become more attractive from this point of view. There's a delightful play of scale involving the monument and the people. The hotel is very attractive, your room must have been great. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
