This is a shot from inside La Pedrerer - Gaudi's house, on Passeig de Gracia, Barcelona. An interesting place to visit with many photo opportunity's though as you can appreciate it has been photographed to within an inch of it's life so coming up with something original is a bit of a challenge. I did manage to interpret some of the familiar subjects of La Pedrerer in different ways - those shots to follow but I thought I would start with something obvious.

love this. The architectural magnificence of this place must be amazing to experience first hand, but this superb POV and execution goes a long way to bringing that to life 2 dimensionally. A glorious execution and exquisite image of real quality and beauty. Bravo!
Have a good weekend - Brian.

Shooting architecture in Barcelona must be a bit intimidating - so much to choose from, and every angle seems like it's already been covered a thousand times. Nevertheless, you seem to have found a new look here, Mike, and it's a really effective one, using the pillar as a strong lead in up to the atrium with the building surrounding it. Actually more straight ahead as an angle than many of your shots, but no less effective. Thanks!

I would not exclude the idea of Gaudi having planned his buildings in such a manner as to make photos like this possible. What I am trying to say is that Your shot is a great addition to the genius of his style.

The thing I really love about TE is that even though this might be a cliche shot to many, its not to me, and I let a big WOW when I seen it! Beautiful perspective on this place with so many shapes and lines and slivers of color. A most enjoyable shot to see!
All the best

Hi Michael, very good picture of this stunning view of the courtyard up, very well captured in this interesting image, with very good sharpness, depth, good light and color. Very good and interesting job well done, congratulations my friend. Thanks for sharing this beautiful work.

Another neck breaker shot with superb detail and good to fill the frame with it. What strikes me most is the contrast in colour and repeated shapes all round
that can't be ignored. Your lens work and pov have further enhanced the impact tremendously. Great catch, TFS

I don't know how much time you spent studying this building or this point of view, but I think you have a way to communicate and collaborate with perspectives, patterns, styles and even colours, when you find them necessary. This picture is absolutely fascinating and your consideration is evident in your pp work as well. A picture that's exciting for both the eyes and the mind and belongs both to you and Gaudi. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely weekend,

We guess that you took a lot of attention to any details on your framing here. The POV is very original, the symetry is perfect, the exposure is excellent. A great shot !
macjake (56590) 2013-07-19 14:33
you used the words obvious, but its amazing how many people do not point their cameras up towards the sky!
the only 'critique' i have is that it could use a horizon correction - but seriously, its such a minor thing and its easily corrected in 1 min - no big deal.
In these shots, its always hard to get the lighting right as there's an open hole filled with bright light, this one turned out really well.
smart looking reflections too.
came out very well.
hopefully your neck is ok!

vado ad aggiungermi ai tanti complimenti, del resto, quando una foto č ben fatta, non si puņ far altro che complimentarsi con l'autore per il suo colpo d'occhio e per la sua tecnica.

Wow! What can I add to the comments you have received so far?! The shot is an outstanding and totally perfect. Excellent POV gave a superb result for the composition and visual effect. Reflected view on the windows made the scene unique and magical! Bravo!
Didi (56905) 2013-07-20 4:01

Problem with my neck if I want to take a similar picture
Great frame quality

Just looking at your shots makes one realise what a wonderful time you had! The shots just ooze your style and ... pleasure.
A fine, upwards shot which gives colourful, textural details in a quite striking way.
Have a lovely Sunday,

Barcelona was a 'photographic heaven' for me and I can see that you enjoyed it too! This certainly has your personal stamp on it with the interesting viewpoint and perfect clarity. The shapes and colours are mesmerizing - a wonderful interpretation of the Gaudi architecture.
Kind Regards, Ann
KristinsCamera (2373) 2013-07-21 17:36
super clever shot, mike ~ and well named.
i haven't seen all the shots of this house, but i can imagine, as you say, that it's been photographed to 'within an inch of its life.' i can also imagine that no one has come up with this unique pov -- beautiful for many reasons, not the least of which is the lovely repetition of the cobalt blue and gold pattern.
i wonder what gaudi would say? :)
