This is a shot of the MACBA (Museu d'art contemporani Barcelona) in Barcelona. Given yesterday's "controversy" over similar POV's to Lousat's image of the MNAC, the eagle eyed amongst you will possibly spot that this is very similar to a shot taken by JFS called... MACBA. The similarity on this occasion is entirely deliberate. Let me explain why...
I had planned a trip to Barcelona where JFS lives and being an admirer of his work I intended to take this shot and upload it in the hope that Juan would recognize it and comment. My idea was to then say "Hello Juan, I am in Barcelona do you want to meet so that we can take photos together?" However, my plan did not come to fruition since, sadly, Juan decided to stop posting on TE before I could follow my plan through. However, we did meet up anyway and I had a great time.
So this shot is in tribute to Juan as an homage and a thank you for a wonderful day in Barcelona.
Mine is a different POV and crop that emphasises the curved shape of the concrete more than Juan's shot, illustrating once again how the same subject can be interpreted differently from the same POV.
The MACBA was a real surprise to me the standard of the art in inside was excellent. A must visit place if you ever go.

sexy shot this! Love the curves and the way they contrast with the straight lines down the left side. A creative piece of imagery and one that hopefully Juan will see and like. Nice tribute!

i agree with brian ~ this is a beautiful and sexy shot :)
thanks for your note. i have planned a trip to barcelona in september, and discovered JFS' beautiful gallery just at the moment he made the decision to leave TE. fortunately, he accepted my friend request on facebook so i've been able to keep up with his photography there. i hope to meet him in barcelona if he's around that week, so it was especially interesting to hear you'd spent a day with him.
again, fantastic shot ~ its lovely symmetry grabbed my attention immediately.
MACBA is on the list!

You found an intriguing sight combining curves and straight lines and different tonalities, cheers ;)

First of all, I want to thank you for your dedication, it is an amazing shot, indeed! You got the sexiest part of it as my friend Brian and Kristin say:-) I love it! And you know it!

well, you kind of got a wish because Juan came back to write a critique just for you! maybe we can convince him to stay lol
as for the photo, i'm glad you showed us a contrasting element on the left with the glass and rails, important to have that 'other' side.
funny how the photo works on our eyes and brain...the photo actually looks larger at the top because of the girth of the concrete, but obviously its all the same size in the frame! pretty cool.
looking forward to seeing more

love the framing. Those line and curves are really produce graphism here. A nice tight composition. Tfs.

Back to your speciality and your unique style Mike, and this is really sweet, you really have an artistic eye for the unusual and pattern/design. A strong graphic image in great colour, whilst the repetitive pattern and curve add so much interest. Beautiful and compelling, Congrats.

I'm sure that Juan would be extremely happy to see your great image! I also love this building and I think it's one of the most creative design in Barcelona.
Superb visual effect achieved. Brilliant composition. Congrats!

Same place, same feature but an artist will always apply his/her own stamp.
Yes, I can see Juan but it is also very much your style, too.
A wonderful play on patterns, curves and shapes. Your crop makes a fine composition as the curve travels from the top l/h corner to the bottom r/h corner.
My warm regards,

bel taglio e bella composizione, un'unione efficace e piacevole.
La linea sinuosa colpisce l'attenzione e l'osservatore rimane affascinato dal suo cammino, come fossera le spire di un grande serpente.

this is a place I will definitely visit on my next trip to Barcelona.Looks like a great place for all modern architecture enthusiasts.
I like your upward perspective and the concrete zigzag going through the shot.
Superb composition with strong and eye-catching visual effect!
