few days ago I was reviewing my photos from 2008 trip to Ecuador, and I realised that I never posted one of my favourite photo (in terms of mood; technically the image has many flaws) - a snapshot of crowd right outside the Basilica de la Virgen de Agua Santa in Baños, Ecuador on the 1 January 2008. abundance of colours, sounds and scents - the cheerful Baños at its best.
other posts from that trip are here.

I like this one alot! Many interesting faces...caught in the moment. I have crowd photos from Calcutta for example, so I know how hard it can be to really get a perfectly framed compo. I think this one is well worth uploading....full of life. I would love to see Ecuador. I find the two men in the foreground intriguing, with their white costumes, and I am wondering what the significance is. Fine work! Kind regards,

it happens to me too. Actually I like to review my old photos and it's incredible to know that we constantly change the way we see them. This means we are very subjective in our analysis. I think that's not the case since you had selected this one and only forgot to post it. Well, backing to what matters, I find this one very apealing thanks to the intense colors and how you "compressed" the people in the frame. I think its naturality is its best feature. I don't see problems with the quality as you mention in the note. Good job!

Hello Kristine! Oh yes - same with me! But more often I think that my pictures are "hm, well ... yeah, oh well soso lala" and weeks later I might find them "well why not, this is pretty cool" ... but I guess we all have that, or maybe I am the only one :))) A friendly crowd here, so much going on, discussions, laughter, and we are right in the middle of it ... I do not find anything bad like you say but some might find it more exciting if you focus on one person and leave the rest not sharp but for me, I find it really special, makes me smile. Happy weekend ... Barbara.

Great daily life scene, looks like a really interesting festival! Beautiful multiple portrait, great traditional outfits! Excellent light management and beautiful colours! Great tight framing and composition!

Not only the image is rich in color with great sharpness and clarity. It is also rich in culture. The colors are so brilliantly handle. this also put us right in the middle of the everything that is going on. They would have run into you if you didn't get out of there soon enough. I love it.

this is a splendid daily life scene, the composition is full of life and light, the colours and the sharpness are really superb. Congratulations, TFS.

A fine photo displkaying not only coloured dresses but also a number of people each going for their serious or less serious business. A photo with a very human and spontaneous touch.

Hi Kristine, I can see why this would be among your favourites, these colourful, happy - and interesting people signify the reason why we all travel. They make the place what it is. I love the light, the lady smiling on the left is a stunner and the little girl in her traditional garb has been captured so well by you. Thanks for sharing, I would prefer this type of shot to technical precision any day of the week. Have a great weekend, hugs from Sydney, Lisa

Hi, Kristine -
It is a nice mix of smiles and bodies, even with the technical issues. Lots of action, lots of stories going on.

You took this colorful street scene eleven months and just got around to sharing it with us. The festive atmosphere, the brilliant colors, the ethnic types are always enjoyable to see, to study. Kristaps posted a photo last year from the steps of a church with the same atmosphere, and equally memorable.

Hello Kristine -
It has flaws? Well, they are not that visible among the interesting faces, the bright colors, and excellent depth. For a grab shot this one is very good to say the least. Well done!
Thank you for sharing.

next summer, I am planning to go to escuador, so I am very interested by pictures from this country, we can really feel the enthusiasm and joy that emanates from this colorful photo.

full of life, joy and colours... just like latin america herself...

Yes, I agree with you...this one has a lot of mood, the sounds and the scent is for our imagination though. Various facial expressions is to me the key here as my eyes wander between the faces to see the myriad expressions and the colours on display. This is so full of life...the reason why I like it
PS : Regarding your critique about my Ganesha picture "forget about the details in the dark areas (which would allow lowering the ISO), and just try and have that bright outline on man's shoulders and on Ganesha. not sure I can explain any better what I have in mind"...I totally understand, and you know what, I do have pictures like this of the same man, but I was wondering about the dark parts which cover most of his face...and I think for such pictures B&W works better

I'm not sure what the flaws are you mention but I think you have done an excellent job especially I'm guessing, you're not comfortable with this genre (me neither) You have captured a very colourful and lively scene with the church-goers in their Sunday-best. I particularly like the joyful expression on the face of the woman on the left and the bored face of the child. The two guys in white look as if they are discussing the quality of the beige fabric! The DOF seems about right to me with the background away from this group suitable blured.

I remember this trip well; it was a great intro to Ecuador for me. You have done an excellent job of framing to capture interesting stores. The intense attraction between the young man and woman, the little girl holding on tightly to the man's jacket and the men who seem to be negotiating over the jacket. Just lovely.

You perfectly captured colorful part of life there, almost two years ago. I liked clarity and sharpness of your frame full with visitors. Especially whites-reds and authentic clothes... just amazing. Congratulations.
I wish merry Christmas to you and your family.
PS. Please forgive my late visit, hope you are well.

Una bonita escena cotidiana llena de luz, color y actividad. La mujer llama la atención con su agradable sonrisa.
