Covered market Albi, detail ...

... from 1860 Albi decided to build a covered food market on the example of the Halles de Paris.
In 1901, the Albi council approved the launch of a competition for the construction of a covered market. In 1902, the agreement is given to the project by Thierry Bourdois, architect Poissy, assisted by a designer metal frames that will become known worldwide: André Michelin.

The plan adopted is a triangular hall type "Pavilion Baltard" combining the amounts of metal brick walls and blinds to be mounted like a giant lego.
Location trade and entertainment par excellence, the covered market was opened in 1905. It offers a rare harmony of shapes perfectly suited to its function.
