Photographer's Note

Dochiariou monastery (Greek: Μονή Δοχειαρίου) is an Eastern Orthodox monastery at the monastic state of Mount Athos in Greece. It was founded in the 10th century, and is dedicated to the memory of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel. It celebrates its patronal feastday on November 8th (21st, Gregorian style). The monastery also houses the icon of the Virgin "Gorgoypikoos" or "She who is Quick to Hear." The monastery ranks tenth in the hierarchy of the Athonite monasteries. The library holds 545 manuscripts, 62 of which are on parchment, and more than 5,000 printed books. Today Docheiariou has 30 working monks.

Très intéressante photo et drôle d'architecture mais j'aime bien la photo. Une belle présentation dans un bel éclairage qui nous fait bien voir les détails. Bel harmonie de couleurs .

Καλησπέρα.
Μεγαλοπρεπής και τεράστιο μοναστήρι. Μοιάζει με φρούριο και φαίνονται μεγάλα χρωματιστά. Το όμορφο περιβάλλον του μοναστηριού, τα κυπαρίσσια είναι φοβερό. Εξαιρετική ποιότητα εικόνας.

Hello Vasilis, This is an amazing pictue of this old monastary. So old, and yet so bright and shiny. Great composition and it appears you have captured the full structure. It is interesting to see the old with the new here, i.e. one sees new what appears to be some newer exterior additons and windows which blend well with the existing structure. Exceptionally good POV here. Lastly, the green trees in the background provide a fitting support for this elegant monastary. Well done for sure. Regards, Roger

Not the typical style of subject we see from Greece, but that just makes it that much better and more interesting.
