[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the main pyramid at Chichen Itza located in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. In actual fact there have been successive pyramids built on top of one another over the centuries. This was a scan from a slide. I applied a levels adjustment to the pyramid, added a warming filter and sharpened.

Super sharp!! Very good detail! And a really amazing pyramid!! Very interesting! TFS

I am amazed, Phil, that a slide that old and then scanned could come out so well. I like that view looking up at such an imposing structure and the color and sharpness are fantastic. Great job of shooting, scanning AND PP. Thanks and take good care,
Shelly

Hi Phil,
Great shot of the ancient ruins that are seen in exceptional details and sharpness as they contrast wonderfully with the vivid blue sky. You certainly do get around!
Regards, Tom

Hi Phil,
Seen many times, in all kind of variations but you bring something new to the front from a pov that looks very interesting. th eleaves on top for a natural framing, but more impressive are the stony patterns on the walls. Very interesating shot, good work in scanning also...perfect.
Regards, Henk

Hi Phil,
Again, a really wonderful shot. The sharpness and clarity is wonderful. DO you have one that show that fulls structure, I am curious.
Regards,
Shaeri

Hi Phil,
yes, the detail on those stones is most impressive. And I really like the use you made of a warming filter, those pinkish hues definitely turn them walls alive and provide for great contrast against the sky. Excellent POV en... scanning!
Cheers,
Fulvio.

The close upwards POV works well. Mostly we see the view taken centrally up the steps. Very good quality scan and great texture showing in the old stones. Good work

Hello Phil!

Thanks for this interesting view of Aztek's (Maya's?) pyramide. It reminds about Mel Gibson's "Apocalypto".

Very good colors and sharpness. And overall, excellent quality for a scanned photo.

Kind regards,
Igor

Hi, Phil -

Interesting shot, and good PP too. Keeping the branches in the frame was a good move.

Best,
Dan

Hi Phil. An amazing structure and a strong testimony to the skills that the Amerindians had.Excellent details and a thought provoking composition with its purity of lines and blue sky above. Regards. Klaudio.

Very nice work Phil, I didn't realize this was a scan until I read your notes (no noise?). The shot is great; it's a place I always wanted to see, but just haven't got around to it yet. The colour in the rock and the sky is fabulous, with excellent detail, and the branches overhead are kind of sparse, but they do help frame the shot.

Thanks, John

Hello Phil,
I like the off centre placement and the angled point of view on the corner. It makes for an interesting set of geometric patterns and lines. The tones look good under the lovely blue sky and the clarity is perfect.

Phil,
perfect work on your scan and PP. I'm completely unable to see that this is actually the result of a scanning. Great work!
The composition is a good one, although I would have preferred to have someone walking up the staircase to the right to provide additional sense of scale and drama, but probably you were the only person there and it isn't allowed to climb so at the end you did the best out of it anyway!
Peter

Hello Phil,

I am delighted to see this fabulous image of the Castillo. I've seen the pyramid twice before, both times almost 30 years ago. But we will be in Cancun on June 19-22, and had planned to visit the site again. I understand, they no longer allow people to climb, having lost a hapless tourist who fell down the stairs — a modern human sacrifice to Cuculcan, the Feathered Serpent.

Warm regards,

Bulent

Impressive monument and once again we can admire the beauty of old civilization....Well taken this shot,I like the neutral colors of the stones, another proof of the ancientness
All the best
Isabela

Hello Phil
I like the stony pyramid with all those natural colours. The blue sky and the branches on top are amazing. I like the way you present it to us. Well done!
Best regards
Denis!
