[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The sky was particularly ugly this day. I was aboard a small boat when someone yelled "Waterspout." We looked to sea and saw this nasty spout...a tornado over the water, really...touching down. It's a lot larger than it looks, and I think you can apprecate the scale of it better with part of this massive cruise ship in the photo. I took many photos of the spout after this one, without the cruise ship, and it became darker and more defined, looking just like a twister.

Good picture, you had to be there and ready. The sharpness is there.

Beautiful journalistic photograph

hi Ted
this is a great capture, but you've missed the whole twister..
here's one in Corsica last year. http://fr.trekearth.com/viewphotos.php?l=8&p=444392

Hi Ted, the photo itself is nothing special, but the emotions it transmits are great! Some years ago I had the same experience and I can confirm that looking at the "devil's tail" going down to water is frightening but so exciting at the same time.

Ted: amazing capture, and the cruise liner for scale is tops. Great upload - super timely, amazing shot. regards, c
