Photographer’s Note
Popocatepetl, Mexico's most recognized volcano. East of Mexco City, this 17,925 foot conical volcano is similar in profile to Mt. Fuji in Japan. Popo, as it is also know, means Smoking Mountain in the Aztec's Nahautl.
This view is from the town of Cholula, site of one of the largest pyramids (in volume) in the world. Cholula is east of the volcano itself, so Mexcio City is on the other side of the volcano. Within a 100 mile triangle three volcanos are found including Pico de Orizaba, which is the third highest peak in North America, at 18,700 feet.
Sunsets from Cholula are always spectacular.
