[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The day June 27 the civil society made the biggest manifestation in the history of Mexico, hundred of people's thousands, dressed of white color, they showed its rejection for the delinquency and the insecurity, each one of these people has a reason to demonstrate its rejection for the delinquency: anger, mourning, pain, victims of robberies and of kidnappings, all with some or several reasons to protest in an orderly way, according to some calculations, the following day, it was published in the newspapers the number of assistants it was bigger than 500,000 people, however, last Friday, July 2, in the stations of the radio were said that the number of people was around 900,000.

The journey began starting from the 11 am (from the Angel of the Independence) and it finished around the 14:26 pm (until arriving to the Zócalo ), an approximate distance of 3.7 kilometers is calculated from the beginning point until the end.

According to the data published by Ariadna Bermeo (Newspaper Reforms: 28/Jun/04.Sección A. City 1a9B): to calculate the number of people, it was considered the surface of the Zócalo of the capital (20,000 m2), the number of people occupied 6.2 approximately. times this surface (125,000 m2), (4 people for meter, on the average) with this calculation, the number of people ascends at 500,000. (considering the distance 3.7 km and the width of the streets, it is not considered the alternating accesses neither the benches).

To the bottom of the image, the Metropolitan Cathedral is observed that forms part of the Plaza de la Constitución, it is habit to denominate to this group with the word 'Zócalo'.

This walk was not a political movement, it was a social movement, the society wants peace.

The photo is leaning a lot and maybe a bit over-exposed, but it's not the most important here.
Your photo, together with the note, is an real interesting testimony and for that I thank you very much, Ninfa !

Merci

I walked in the streets of Mexico city the last day of my trip in your country...
It is true that insecurity in your capital is a very big problem and fortunatly, I had no problems in Mexico city. There is a surexposition due to the white color but maybe here that not a problem.
In 1996 in Belgium, there was a walk like that in Brussels (the white walk) but it was to protest against pedophily. Unfortunally, a new pedophil serial killer was found but only 15 years after he killed several young girls.
Nice to share this moment on TE, Ninfa!

Excellent photo as event! Thank you very much for sharing here!

Hola Ninfa
