[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Guanajuato

Note: I was little neurotic about "triangles" in Mexico and guess what? Some times the god of photography comes to rescue. It was sitting in my "reject" folder until I could do some PP to bring out the reflection of the divine figure on the window. Reminded me of the wisdom "never throw away your pictures, you never know" :).
Oh, this also reminded me of the popular bumper stickers I get to see in Ithaca "God bless the whole world, no exception"

Theme: Guanjuato, Mexico

I spent four nights in Guanajuato including the New years eve. I had never heard of this town until the couple I met on the flight suggested that I visit this town. Guanajuato, originally famous for the silver mines that helped the Colonial barons make their fotune in 16th century, is presently a vibrant university town with stunning colonial achitecture and youthful culture. The first thing one notices is the splash of colours; pink, yellow, green, red, blue all the hues from the colour wheel randomly flashing against each other (everything may look white if you are spinning fast on a mary-go-round) defying all the norms of modern aesthetic sensibilities of the west. The town is crammed onto the steep slopes of a ravine with narrow alleys crisscrossing through the hillside offering an exquisite walking experience.

Hey, good thing you didn't reject it. I really like this shot. I like this kind of caputre, of people going by.

P: darn-it! I knew this was yours. Do you study alex webb at magnum or what:

I'll say one thing. I learn on this site. Next time, ah, next time...

Looks like a movie frame. There's a cinematic dimension to it which is even more enhanced by your text, that can almost be "listened" as a voice in the background. True that the divine figure on the window seems like the testimony of God's presence above all the erratic and lonely living souls.

love this one too, yes Webb-y a bit..
beautiful composition.

Hello Prantik !

It's a nice compo.
I liked the way you captured these guys walking in opposite ways, and in differents layers.

a bug plus on the DOF

hugs
EA

Great perspective with the man in foreground and the other in background, I like the size difference. I like the big red wall, very saturated and well textured. And of course the window with its painted spirit.
Great picture,
Nice regards,
Jean-Claude

Three-dimensional triangles, in fact. Are you one of those guys who sleeps under a pyramid? This one, like all good ones, tells time and depicts the cosmos. The son father of the man, the man who, looking for god, turns away from himself, the man who removes his hat, looks for light, mistaking it for illumination, equating it with white skin, crosses himself before images of crosses, images of little white men, immaculately appearing in window panes and whitewashed walls and burning cacti in the desert even. Man who paces before the blood-red wall of Mestizo history, always locked out by one gate or another. Transcendent image, Prantik.

Beautiful placement again of the two heas against te plain, undistracting background of the purple wall. Classy shot, heavy with feeling...
Best,
FRancis

Hi Prantik

Solid background to anchor this image. Very sharp and good color. Great work.

Great Stuff...to my Fav.

I was browsing through your gallery and I must tell you that you're going to hear from me often... You have some great quality work here. Like your take on this. The way you placed the two heads is amazing. It lends the scene an incredible depth. The window holds the compo and the wine red background is perfect. Very well seen.

Yes, that saint was the first detail that stood out, Prantik. Thank God you didn't throw it in the reject folder. What a marvellous shot! The colours, these two men facing the opposite direction, the composition, all are so good. Really, another great jewel of your Mexico shots. Love the way the light flickers on the old window and the beautifully rich walls.

Composition!!!
Another strong presentation but not as strong as previous one!!!

You are best!!!!!!!

Oh my! Prantik, this is extraordinary!! (I will return soon to savor this...now I must run)
I am back, yes what a photo, the golden triangle has struck again. There is something in Mexican air that plays well into figures walking out of the frame, and of course the central photo here is the cohesion that binds the two just right. The color is fantastic...bravo!

Hi Prantik!
great work!
i like a lot how you have composed the image, great to see the subjects in different perspective and measure..
I like to see the men in oppositie directions!
congrats!
ciao!
Valeria
