In the municipality of Teapa, within the hill of Coconá, in the region of the mountain range, to 60 km to the south of Villahermosa, by federal highway 195, are these magnificent caverns masterpiece of the nature, which through the centuries has been molding the water and the Earth, forming capricious figures in a passage of almost five hundred meters divided in eight halls.

Most beautiful of Caverns they are his inner lagoon (where are blind fish) and its great vaults. The hill still conserves parts of forest, that offer a wonderful spectacle, being able to appreciate typical animals of the region in their atmosphere natural, like the saraguatos or calls monkeys also howling.

In 1892 the caverns were explored scientifically by the engineer Jose Rovirosa Narcissus and in 1967 it was prepared this natural wonder with light and sound. The Caverns of Coconá, that in zoque means "deep water", count on eight halls that Carlos Pellicer Camera denominated: of the ghosts, mouth of the lion, the pumpkin, three tails of serpent, the regadera, natural well of the blind fish, woman without head and the great celestial vault. These halls are united to each other through walking, in a length of 500 ms, throughout which, the visitor can be observing a volume of fantastic figures of natural formation like: A monk praying, the cluster of bananas, the Christmas tree, the head of gorila, the frog, the cluster of grapes, the Virgin, the eagle, and the face of Christ, between many more.
