[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
L'histoire d'une recontre, l'histoire d'une rencontre avec une plage, un site vierge et isolé, reculé et accessible uniquement après une bonne demie heure de marche le long d'une cote sauvage ... Avant de partir au Mexique, j'avais repéré l'hotel ou nous souhaitions séjourner et m'étais aperçu de la présence d'une plage magnifique, une crique perdue dans la nature et abritée par une grande barrière de corail à quelques centimètres de l'hotel (sur la carte lol). Il n'en fallait pas plus pour mon instinct d'aventurier et pour mes tongues à toutes épreuves d'aller voir de mes propres yeux cette plage paradisiaque ... et elle fut a la hauteur de toutes nos espérances : personne absolument personne, si ce n'est ce canoé jaune laissé à l'abandon, seuls 2 palmiers distillant un peu d'ombre aux robinson et ronbinsonette en herbe. Après Saona (rep dom) c'est sans conteste le meilleur spot de plage sur lequel je me sois jamais rendu, des milliers de poissons dans l'eau, une eau cristaline, un sable blanc et fin, des pélicans et une faune surdeveloppée. Le pied !
... C'est aussi la continuation de mon apprentissage photo. Je trouvai très intéressant ce gros orage qui pointait le bout de son nez alors que le soleil éclairait la plage, je me décidai a aller dans l'eau, de l'ombre, prise de photo quand même ... je reviens sur la plage et là la lumière reperce, je retourne dans l'eau, et prise de photo. Un grand sourire aux lèvres (c'est le genre de photo que j'aime particulièrement) et lors de la visualisation sur PC "merde tout a été pris à 800 ISO :(( ) ... l'apprentissage photo continue ;-)

Story of a meeting, story of a meeting with a beach, a totally remote place, isolated and only accessible by feet after a long walk along a rock coast ... Before i went to Mexico i had located our hotel with googleEarth and i had seen the presence not that far away from it (only few centimeters on the map lol) of a marvelous "crique", remote beach, protected by a huge coral barrier 200 meters away.
I didn't need much to see this "guessed paradisiac place" with my own eyes ... and this was a tremendous experience, more beautiful than i had dreamt : nobody absolutely nobody, I was Robinson Crusoe there. After Saona in dominican republic this is the most beautiful beach i've ever seen with my own eyes : hundreds of tropical fishes, white sand, surdevelopped fauna, birds, iguana.
This is also the story of my continuation of my learning process in photography : i found interesting this huge cloud and rain that was coming and the fact that the sun was still shining the beach, so i went in the sea and ... just a cloud on sun, i still shoot but disapointed ... went back to the sand ... and then the sun shined again ... i go back to the sea and this time excellent, big shine, i shoot ... smile on my head ... then seing them on PC, i realize it was shot at 800 ISO :(( ... ;-)

Once more a great contrast: this time between the dark menacing sky and the turquoise blue sea. The palms on the beach complete an enjoyable composition.

I recognized your approach to that beach shot:) Three layers, each saturated, a single object to catch the eye. I don't know if you remember my SFIS project, one of them could as well imitatingthis one :)

J'avoue que j'aurais hésité à cadrer verticalement ici....et ta photo me prouve que j'aurais bien eu tort...Quelle impression donnée par ces bandes de couleurs et cette lumière incroyable! Le paradis...telle qu'on se l'imagine...et l'avantage c'est que ça se trouve sur la Terre!

très belle vue et belles juxtaposition des couleurs. Devant un tel paysage on te pardonne pour ces 800 isos... c'est vrai que c'est beaucoup trop mais quand on aime... Cela dit, j'aime beaucoup la lumière sur les feuilles des palmiers.

Hello Seb - amazing light contrasts, this storm may have dampened your holiday briefly, but it is so photogenic, the colour of the water is a dream.

Qu'il est extraordianirment sombre et dramatique ce ciel. ca marche si bien sur cette mer vert tropique. Encore une belle reussite, malgre le bruit du 800 ISO. Pas bien grave!

Hi Robinson, this post reminds me a lot of Isla Saona. By the way, thanks so much for the hint. It was absolutley stunning. Maybe I will have to follow your footsteps again and now plan my next vacation in Mexico to go this beach. What is that yellow thing on the sand? Unfortunately the digital quality of this iamge is not so good as I'm usually used to see in your posts. Is that really just the ISO 800? How on earth did you ajust your camera in such light conditions on that high ISO range anyway. What a bummer!

Bonjour, Sébastien. Deux verts bien différents pris en sandwich entre une plage bien claire et un ciel bien sombre. Cela donne d'excellents contrastes. Le ciel gris permet aux palmiers de bien se détacher. Quant au canoë, c'est un élément important dans al composition.

Well this one is a big rival to Saona, indeed a beautiful, wild and undiscovered beach (I mean there are no huge hotels around I hope).
Let me tell you that you've managed well with the light as it seems it was quite harsh and the most easy thing would be the photo being overexposed but it isn't and you've still managed to capture nice tones and colours on the palm trees as also capturing well the dark tones of the incoing storm.
The photo seems to be made of several layers such are the contrasts between the colours of sea, beach, palm tree line and the sky.

This type of shot seems to be your forte, Sebastien. Just four bands of colour here, but rendered with amazing lighting and richness of tone. The sky and the sea make for a great contrast. I suspect that you have used noise reduction here, and the effect is a bit obvious, particularly on the sand, which is lacking in detail. But I could be wrong! Anyway, I like the story of how you took the picture, and the colours are marvellous. That yellow boat makes the shot a great success!

T'as vraiment mitraille ce jour la, t'as raison de tels contrastes c'est pas garant tous les jours a chaque photographe, ici encore ca rend tres bien avec un ephoto qui a du punch, meme si dans celle la je deplore l'absence d'une beaute legerement vetue...
