Photographer’s Note
This is a photo (looking straight down) of the sidewalk outside an old hacienda we saw when a friend of ours, who's from Merida, took us on a tour of some of the city's attractions that aren't on the tourist maps. It's a mosaic -- and quite a nice one -- made up of pieces of broken tile taken from buildings in the area.
I don't know what buildings the pieces came from. Hell, for all I know those buildings were torn down to make room for the hacienda itself. But at least they live on, in their way, here beneath our feet.
I love the artful way the pieces are fitted together, disparate as they are, into an organic whole.
This walkway went on for a very long distance, by the way. There was a lot of history underfoot.

Beautiful image which tells a long story. Well spotted! The technical execution of the photograph is good and your note is very helpful at putting it into context. Well done!

Hello Lee,
Interesting composition in the way Gaudi did in Barcelona by sticking together pieces of broken tableware to make walls, sculptures and benches.
Just a pity that the colours do not jump out of the picture... light was missing probably

Very interesting view, Lee. One hardly has time to look down to earth and see beauty in simple things. It is remarkable to ponder how hard it is to see such simple things and make them special.

Hi Lee,
I like the idea for this picture- mosaics are lovely. It's nice that the buildings are still there, sort of. I kind of wish the colors were pumped up a bit. I think I'll do a workshop for you. Cool frame.
Rosie
(Ok- I can't get the workshop to work for me at the moment, but I liked the way it looks if you just push up the color levels.- Sorry)

Interesting composition Sam, also reminds me to Gaudí in works as the Park Guell, the Sagrada Famlia or La Pedrera in Barcelona. You had very good sight, because we tread on the soil without looking at it. Congratulations for the shot.
