A pause in my Alentejo's series and a jump to Mexico, to show this lateral wall of the 'mission' of Mulegé.

----------------------------------

From Wikipedia:

The Misión Santa Rosalía de Mulegé is a Spanish-founded mission in Mulegé, Baja California Sur, Mexico, in 1705. The original mission was founded on the banks of the Río Santa Rosalía, (also called Río Mulegé) which leads into an estuary off the Sea of Cortez. Flooding of this river estuary destroyed much of the mission in 1770, leading to it being relocated to its present site high above the river.

Mulegé is a town in Baja California Sur, Mexico. It has a population of approximately 3,100. It is perhaps best known outside of Mexico for John Steinbeck's comments in his 1941 journal Sea of Cortez: A Leisurely Journal of Travel and Research - "the port charges are miscieveous and ruinous" and "there may be malaria there".
