Photographer's Note

This low-lying platform is located only 11 metres north of the northern staircase leading to the top of El Castillo. This view is from the east. The structure is devoid of decoration save for molding around the sides. There are steps on the east, west and south, but the northern set appear to have been covered over. By way of contrast, at Chichen Itza the Platform of Venus is a good 75 metres distant to the north of the northern staircase of the pyramid. Intimacy appears to apply here at Mayapán.
