Photographer's Note

Be careful where you place your feet when you approach the rear door of the palace! In season, throughout the Puuc region, the rains are good and the soil fertile. The difficulty is to maintain a supply of water year around, particularly for drinking. The Maya devised a number of storage devices including chultunes to achieve this purpose. You will find them in profusion around the residential structures on sites. This one in Group 3 is uncovered.
