Photographer's Note

Temple I, rectangular in shape and built on a north-south axis, is, for the most part, buried under the base of the Pyramid. A portion of the frieze over its entrance remains, and this is just visible to the right of the grand staircase. Construction would have dated to as early as the sixth (radiocarbon dating) century.
