Progreso's claim to fame is its 5-mile-long pier, touted as the world's longest. The community is retively new among the those catering to the cruising industry. As such, it brings a slightly less cluttered, more real feel as a whole. Still, the pier is an investment that speaks of changes in store. The tourism industry is making inroads here, which means changes are coming... for better or worse.
