I have mentioned that there is no site museum at Oxkintok. One reason would be that there was heavy looting at the site before security was stepped up. One of the few artefacts to be seen is this lintel(8) from the north end of the Ch'ich Palace, Southeast Plaza, of the Ah Canul Group. It portrays a well-dressed male, whose name is given in the glyphs to the right but has not been deciphered, presumably a ruler. He wears an elaborate headdress, ear ornaments, a pectoral. On his wrists there are large bracelets. An undergarment ensures modesty beneath a heavy loin pendant. Sandals are decorated, and probably not made for walking. This photograph was taken at the site museum of Dzibilchaltun, just north of Merida.
