Photographer's Note

As the proto-Puuc phase of architecture evolved, there were noticeable improvements in the quality of construction. Workers became aware that the appearance and finish were important elements in what they did. This is the continuation to the east of Structure CA6 - the Palace of the Initial Series. You will note the use of ashlar (shaped/polished) stone blocks on the exterior. The door-frames are now distinct from the wall itself and they taper outward near the bottom. There is a distinct threshold as well. This is all visible, as the rubble from the collapsed vault has been cleared.
