Photographer's Note

All told, there are sixteen rooms inside, spread over the first two levels, dating from the Early Classic (300 - 500 CE). An additional 3 exterior rooms were built on top during the Late Classic. Locals claim that there are still undiscovered tunnels that lead from here to either other buildings or caves. At Oxkintok, it was believed that somewhere there is an entrance to Xibalba, the Maya Underworld of 9 levels. This view is from the northwest, and the small entrance, closed off, is centre at the bottom.
