Photographer's Note

I walked along through the grass, following the sacbé west. The arch is a simple structure, looking north, complete with ramps both front and rear. Just to its left (east), there are the intact remains of a small building, missing only its cover, whose purpose is not evident. I could see that I was coming up to a ball court just ahead, and the whole formed a plaza complex known as the Ah Dzib.

I should mention that there is a second arch at Oxkintok, part of the Ah Canul group, and later and less impressive in construction, that gives out to the east. I assume there may have been a road heading toward Uxmal.
