Photographer's Note

Structure 38, and its related structures on the north, west, and south together, comprise a related group to the north of sacbé 2. This small structure was previously covered over, and ceramics found among the rubble indicates that it dates from 600 - 830 CE. This would make it the oldest of the vaulted buildings at Dzibilchaltun. Moreover the masonry is coarse and its vault is framed with projecting stonework. Nevertheless, there is a certain simple elegance in its design.
