Photographer's Note

These platforms at Chichén Itzá may have been used as a venue for performances of dance. In 1875, a sculpture of a Chac Mool was found inside the structure of the Platform of Venus (North). A Chac Mool is a sculpture representing a reclining man (tomorrow's upload is of a reclining woman) holding a vessel or tray for offerings. The possible offerings include a human heart.
