Photographer's Note

Structure 2 was a significant feature of Aké in its time, located at the west end of the plaza. There has been a considerable effort made at restoration. The east face of Structure 2 shows success in these endeavours, and I will upload a photo to demonstrate. This is the north face and there is not much clearance between the base and a stone wall only a few metres to the north. This was probably a palace, and Aké was at the crossroads of a number of sacbeob that moved to the west (Ti'Ho) and east (Izamal). The town may have been the venue for meetings of rulers from the region.
