Photographer’s Note
The composition is nothing too special, but I liked the pink rays shooting above the clouds here. Not a lot of PP other than to lighten the foreground a little.
I've hesitated to post my Mexico shots from last October because they're largely all the same in terms of composition--most of them were taken at sunrise with these awesome rocks in the foreground. But I liked this one, it was one of the best sunrises I've seen.
I used a 2-stop hard-edge grad and a 1-stop soft-edge grad for this shot.

Clark, The sunset here is really something unique and beautiful. I'll admit that I love the sharp rocks the best, something about the silk-like water sourounding the jagged edges keeps my attention. - Ryan

Hi Clark,
Superb colors and light over these rocks.
It's all about mood.
Well done

Hi Clark,
What's not to like here. This is all about the morning colors and the clouds mirror the foreground rocks nicely. I've not seen twilight rays like this before so I really enjoy this one.
Cheers!

Clark,
You're right, the colour bands in the sky do add another dimension to this pleasing shot. If anything, the foreground rocks could be a little sharper - maybe selectively sharpened - to make them stand out just a little more.
Cheers

hi Clark,
I don't think I've seen pink rays like that before, they certainly look like straight from a fairy tale :) the scene is almost Biblical, although I'm not sure pink would be the colour that comes in mind when one is thinking about the Book :)
I like a lot the smoke-like effect of the 3-sec exposure, it certainly fits the dream-like mood. nice one, makes me re-think the need to get out of that comfort zone, there's so much WITHIN it :)
best,
Kristine

Hi Clark,
The rocks are wonderfully placed .. a sense of gentle power in the sea .. tone is wonderful .. horizon feels a touch tilted .. the low clouds are incredible ..
hope this finds you and yours well.
take care,
John

Hi Clark,
I was looking through your shots and I stopped upon this one for it's lovely pastelly orangy/pinky hues. What I also like is that the rocks in the foreground with their strange shape and texture seem to emulate almost the same shapes and texture in the clouds. The shot is so gentle it feels like it could be an image from a dream.
Regards
Wanda
