After Tropical Rain II, a photo from Quintana Roo, Southeast

Photographer's Note

Another picture from the Island of Cozumel. All my best photos were taken just after a cloudburst. The tropical rain lasted just a few minutes but washed the streets and, when the sun shone gave some wonderful reflections of the brightly painted buildings. In just a few minutes the streets were nearly dry again. A more traditional shot, of a pink building, is shown in the WS.

The largest town on Cozumel is San Miguel de Cozumel. There is a regular fast ferry service to the mainland at Playa del Carmen.

Hello dear Ann - You are such a stranger on TE these days. I miss your postings and your presence. Busy? or bored? I like both shots but the winner is the 'Ann' shot. I love the acid green and maroon red here and both are offset so well by the contrasting white. Excellent colours and textures and a style of shot at which you excel. As Rosemary says, this is so very much "one of Ann's pictures"! I also note her comments about your recent absence from TE as well as your reply to her about mine too - I'm afraid I've been painting and decorating - not a nice job when, compared to your weather, ours here has been absolutely gorgeous - just like Spring. I might have aching shoulders from painting but my shutter button finger is itching to go!

Anyway, a very fine photograph, very much in your style and very well seen and taken. A wonderful cacophony of vibrant colours with fabulous textures in the wet ground and lovely reflections in the puddles. Perfect exposure and stunning details and sharpness.

Lovely colours so well exposed her with a textural feel almost like an abstract oil painting. It's a testament to the fact that we are always looking for things, the eye just keeps searching for that next shot.

an intriguing picture, I first thought it to be melting ice on a river. The reflections have a surreal feel to them, owned especially the poisonous green in here.

This shot easily catches the eyes to focus on the bright colored areas with all the reflections. A bit curious but this shot shows an example of the fascinating distortions created by the wet road pavement and enough to make the eyes busy but indeed makes it so appealing effect. The toning is very effective and the vivid detail. Well done

Hello Ann,
The shattered colours have created a nice pattern. Another nice aspect of the composition is the mixture of clear surface and what looks like the last remaining bits of "rotten" ice, but that wouldn't be the case at Cozumel, would it?

good use of the patterns created by the water and uneven surface for good effect with the reflections. After rain is often a good time for photography.
