Photographer's Note
The third picture from Mexico where I attended a small conference on the Island of Cozumel. The heat and humidity were exceptional and the inside of my camera steamed up every time I went outside.
The largest town on Cozumel is San Miguel de Cozumel. There is a regular fast ferry service to the mainland at Playa del Carmen. It is also a major stop for very large cruise ships. I took two trips to town from the hotel, the first one when no ships were in, and the second when there were. This picture was taken the first time when wandering the streets was delightful with no-one hassling me to buy souveniers or have a meal in their cafe. You can guess what I thought of the second trip!
Just after a cloudburst the streets were awash with water and the sun picked out the wonderful colours and reflections. The back streets reminded me of the small towns in Cuba (which isn't far away).

Ciao Ann,
Molto bella questa scena di vita quotidiana con sullo sfondo le tipiche case colorate.
Bello l'effetto della strada bagnata ed il passaggio della donna in rosso.
Ciao

Hello Ann,
The oblique perspective makes for s strong composition. The glistening roadway with its reflections is quite attractive and gives the image depth. The passer-by in the red top is very well included, being well placed she also adds a splash of contrasting colour. Excellent realisation.

Bonjour Ann,
J'aime beaucoup cette composition. Ce ne sera plus tellement long avant que la pluie ne sèche sur l'asphalte. Les fils électriques nombreux font partie du décor au Mexique et très difficiles à éviter.

Hello Ann,the raggled taggled wires hanging from the telegraph post speaks volumes to me along with the glistening road they provide a lovely snap shot of Mexico.
Very well observed and captured.
Best regards Les.

Hello Ann,
An interesting note you have given about this place. And I see that you share the same hatred which I have of being constantly hounded and harassed by people trying to sell you junk or trying to drag you bodily into their restaurants. Loathesome!
But you are right about heavy downpours - they not only saturate you but they also wonderfully saturate colours too! And this is a fine example.
The bright sunlight appearing after a deluge has lent some wonderful contrasts and bright colours to this scene which is very well composed with the diagonal line of the buildings and street nicely presented and the "lady in red" perfectly placed in the frame. The textures and the reflections on the wet roadway are lovely too.
Excellent colours, spot-on exposure and exquisite detail.
Fabulous!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Ann ,
It is allway a good moment to take pictures , after a rain , when the sun comes back , and the soil is wet and brighty . .
I like this kind of simple scene , with humble but colorful houses . Even the wires are good features of the compositon .

Hello Ann,
Very simple but nicely painted houses casting fine reflections in the wet street. There are several eye-catching features, apart from the woman in the red shirt. I'm thinking of the ALTO sign, the blue and white arrows, the strange wires and the signs on the façades.
Regards,
Gert

Bonsoir Ann
L'eau sur la chaussée donne une excellente touche à cette image en créant ces reflets très esthétiques.
Bonne soirée

I also was reminded of Cuba by this shot, Ann - the shape and coloration of the buildings, mostly. Shooting this scene after a hard rain was a nice idea, giving the scene some slight reflection. The woman walking is also a nice detail, providing some movement and a bright splash of color. I can imagine how different this scene would look in a crowd, and I'm glad you got a chance to see it without...

Hi Ann,
it is so refreshing after a rain, especially when the sun is visible again. Colors in themselves are great and in combination with this woman and the reflections in the street it is far more interesting. The cables are a little bit distraction in my opinion but they are a part of the city and there are not much to do about them. Anyhow, nice shot and i guess you had a nice stay in Mexico?
Regards.

Hi Ann,
Typical Mexican houses, so low, and even more typical cables that can't be avoided. Nice view of the street after the rain, with reflections on the wet street.
Warm regrads

Hi Ann. Interesting shot. I like the pastel colours, and the atmosphere of freshness after the rains. The sharp character in red adds dynamic movement to the image. I just wish there was more of a reflection on the wet street. Did you manage to use a CPL filter? On the whole, a very pleasing shot.

hello Ann again
back from my travel to Normandie, not so far away as you!
I like the crisp atmosphere after a rainfall which enhances the colors of the houses. Good idea to wait for a person to give life to your shot, and you were rewarded by the pink shirt!
have good holidays in the Far East.
Cheers

Hi Ann
a very interesting note!
Never thought about the insides of our camera's getting steamed up! I'll have to keep that in mind - but only when i travel because living in canada....not so much lol
Isn't it great to take photos right after the rain!
the roads have a wonderful shimmer and shine to them, and the architecture is so classicly rustic.
lots of character and culture.
lovely shot
cheers

Hello ann
The colours are so bright and clear after the rain. Nice composition with the woman in full stride perfectly positioned. Even the messy powerlines are an attraction rather than a distraction.

Hello Ann,
I really like the timeless composition of this picture. The reflections, the woman's attitude in her stride, her opposition with the otherwise dominant feeling of horizontality. A great street scene.
Congratulations really,
Emmanuel
