Ah, at last he shows us the Kan glyph! In Yucatecan Maya, Kan means "yellow". It also refers to "south", a cardinal point, and indeed the staircase is to the south of Ball Court #1. It also may have other meanings, e.g. precious, necessary and appreciated. Consequently it was used to refer to the materials employed in jewellery-making. These two glyphs as shown are located in the centre of the staircase.
