I have a question about this sign Photo

Photographer’s Note

We stopped somewhere in Sierra Lacando Chiapas...not too far from Agua Azul as soon as we saw this sign.
As for the previous pic from mexican gallery "Revoluccion o Globalizacion" the question is:

was this a genuine sign fron Ejercito Zapatista de Liberaccion national....or just a fake to have tourists stop and shot picture (and maybe buy a drink at the small shop next to it??)

Hello Silvio.
I've seen this sign too when we are driving to Agua Azul,it attracts my attention,even I know about the conflict in Chiapas,a big sign like this stands out a lot and attract attention.About the shot,it's a simple shot,but I admit,I was on the point of take the same picture when I was there,but we couldn't stop.
About your question,I think both answer,this zone is zapatista but I think is probable the sign was put by inhabitants as turist lure..

il dubbio è lecito, visto tutto il commercio che c'è intorno al personaggio di Marcos (come sul Che, d'altra parte), ma che dire... le premesse rimangono valide
non mi dilungo, credo che le regole di TE no lo consentano

hai avuto una ottima intuizione nel fotografare questo cartello, dove ci son scritte delle regole che a noi sembrano scontate, ma che probabilmente in quella zona vengono considerate eccezionali. Sai che casino se anche in Italia dovesse comandare il popolo e il governo obbedire? Però, qualche volta, ci starebbe...

bem interessante e engraçada mesmo essa placa, acho que com certeza ninguém cumpre as normas dela, mas mesmo assim muito bom ter mostrado.

long time ago i had to go to chiapas for a conference presentation. part of the preparation was education about the strong presence of zapatista movement members in the area. in the end, something came up and i did not go, however, from what the government agents told me in the US it seemed, that zapatas ideas are still very strong in chiapas (including armed riots still taking place from time to time). so, the sign might be a genuine one.
