Photographer’s Note

This is a photo of the Pelicans that were everywhere when I visited Punta de Mita, Mexico with my sister. You could think you were on a beach in Oregon until one of these bird flew overhead. I'm used to seeing seagulls, and these birds were amazing. They would sit for long periods of time on this clump of rocks, so I tried to get close to get a good photo. They finally took offense and flew off, only to come back a few minutes later. Punta de Mita is about 30-40 miles north of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This photo was cropped, increased the contrast, and sharpened. Taken with my "cheap" camera I bought because it was so small, only to find out it when it was sunny you can't see the screen, and there isn't a view finder. So all of my photos I had to just aim in the direction and hope for the best!

well shot. do you have more on this? i'd prefer the birds a bit more away from the horizon for completeness and distinguishability.

Nice picture with good compostion. I like the contrast between the dark colours and the bride blue sky.
I think Arnabchat is right about the horizon, but you can't go back to Mexico for just one picture, so I have another suggestion: crop a bit of the bottum and the top. Well, maybe that's a shame of the beautiful blue sky, but on the other hand: you get more attention to the birds. So I'll try a ws, just to show what I mean.

I like this one too. I've seen it some days ago and I must admit that you've done a very nice shot. The action and the birds are well captured. Nice scene.

Nice photo even with your "cheap" camera, Lori! The bird's flight is always beautiful and your photo has also the sea and rocks creating a pleasant work!

Hello Lori,

Indeed, the alternative reframing by Steft highlight very well the most interesting part of the shot. Nevertheless, the original framing gives a beautiful seascape. I like especially the birds's group, offering here a good dynamic to the shot (movement well-frozen in the picture). With the line of rock breaking the monotony of the sea, the composition work, is also good. Well seen, Lori.
